The 2006 garbage truck is modeled after a LEACH 2R2 compactor body while the 2005 is modeled after a newer LEACH 2R3

The sad part? I absolutely LOVE the paint scheme the new one was given. Definitely one of the few highlights of the 'overtampoed' year. But I won't pick it up because the casting is a serious 'what were they thinking?' one. Why can't they decorate the 2006 casting this way?!? I've never seen a real trash truck in beige/tan before (especially not one urging folks to "Think green").

On a side note, I know we do a Casting Of The Year on the board. Can I nominate the new trash truck to be the exact opposite of that? "Casting No One Asked For But We Got Anyway"? I mean, seriously. A monster trash truck? Trashzilla! In addition to the lift kit, it's even got a snorkel for crying out loud. Why? Why does this exist? Is there some similar vehicle the National Park Service uses to get trash from Yosemite or Yellowstone? I'm grasping at straws here...
Funny thing is, the National Park service runs normal International Durastar Refuse trucks at both parks. They just have a shorter wheel base for turning radius. And guess what? They don't have lift kits or snorkels!

The WM one is probably the best version released! I love that one!
