does anyone know why JL decided to reissue the white #86 popeyes demo derby wagon after they already had it out once? They could have put a new demo derby casting out but for some reason decided to put out a car they just put out only a few months earlier. does anyone possibly have an explination on why they did this, i'm just curious? |

I would like to know this as well. I think even a better re-issue option would have been the first McCoy derby wagon from 2.0. Now that they have the casting for F64 it seemes like it would have been a good opportunity to get that car out again cause it was pretty hard to find |

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!

They have done a number of "reissues" in the F64 series and have labelled them as such on the cards. Maybe it's easy for them to do one now and then to cut expenses of a new color releaase, sort of the way Hollywood slips a re-run episode in TV shows mid season. Or maybe there was a demand for the selections based on JL fans not being able to find them. If that is the case, then they should re-release anything VW or cop cars. |

when Talking to Harry Bell, ( owner of the orginal derby car) he never mentioned asking for a re-release of it, but instead seamed surprised that it was being reissued. That release for some reason seemed to have a limited amount of stock come out when it did . The response I got From Tom was that it was a popular release the first time so they decided to reissue it. |

The winning answer! As Joe stated, I was surprised when I heard it was being reissued. The first issue was when Tomy was about to take over, and I heard some distributers had their R15 orders cancelled or reduced from the manufacturer. I don't have anything official about it, never asked Tom, just what I read on different websites. I never saw one of my cars in a store, just online. I recieved a few from Tom Z, and bought 5 more from an independent seller when we were at Lightning Fest July 2011. My sister was the only one I personally knew that saw one in a store. Thanks to the reissue, I finally found one in a Walmart a couple weeks ago. ![]() |

Hi Harry...at least this is one reason, and good news for you and others who may not have found the car. I ordered one from an OLD when it first came out. And I can only imagine the other reissues being done due to the fact that they either sold well, or because JL was simply behind on deadlines and needed some filler. Official reason's aside, this sort of last minute rehashing happens from time to time in most media when time is short and the only other possibility is a delay...which can be costly if time is reserved for production schedules. That's my unofficial guess since TZ has claimed that the Tomica line was taking up a good deal of his time. |

We've got some good thinking people here. I think all of the reasons presented have merit. Maybe we should work in marketing and replace those Nano Racers and Muscle Machines taking up all that peg space in Harry's picture. They'll probably last less than six months, anyway.
