Got this cheap Kinsmart '53 Chev. Wrecker. Not my usual buy but I wanted the wrecker body, it's plastic, but well detailed and uses hat elastic for cables, so the lift mechanism works. It soon parted company with the wrecker gear, and a Yatming Road signature F 100 was lined up as a recipient. A quick check that it was feasible and I attacked with the Exacto saw. Then it was just a case of trimming the respective chassis', both plastic so real dramas, sourcing some wheels. Ex Land Rover Defender, but converted four into a set of duals for the rear. Then I just detailed the rear section with some aluminium lookalike paint for the checkerplate floor and rear section. Pleased with the result, and it looks great next to an earlier conversion I did. That one has a heavy duty style of lift gear and is slightly larger. This one is more a general tow rig setup. If anyone has a need for some '53 Chev pickup cabins, 1/43 scale, I have a couple I don't need. PM me........ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yes, both rigs are plastic. The black rig has hat elastic as cables, and the cable drums turn, so I can actually make it work. The grey rig has thin string, going to change it to the hat elastic, but the cable drums don't move. Thanks for looking and the comments......... |

Great work George. There's something so cool about old tow trucks and yours are amazing. Any chance of seeing all your F truck customs in a group shot? |
