The GMC School Bus is one of my favorite castings ever done by Matchbox. However, I didn't feel that way at first. When it debuted in the line in 2009 (hehe that rhymes! ) I thought it was cool, but didn't think much else of it. However, recently, I've found that I've been buying 5 Packs just for the GMC Schol bus, and that's when I realized it - I absolutely love this casting! Just yesterday I completed my collection of the GMC School Bus (Except for the Dream Halloween Exclusive, of course) with this guy right here:![]() This came in a city 5-pack from 2011 (I think) and this is possibly one of my favorites. I just love the white with the black trim and all black wheels. It looks incredible! ![]() Here's another favorite of mine of this casting, the 2011 Mainline version. The plastic effect to look like glass is really neat, and I love that metallic blue for the cab. It was just so different after seeing two GMC School Buses both looking nearly the same in 2009 and 2010: ![]() 2010 Version ![]() 2009 Debut version. I think both of these look great too, but I like the fact how the Fort Sumner Edition has the smaller wheels; they seem to fit better. The Science Center one here also uses the smaller wheels: ![]() This isn't my favorite version. I don't care for the green color, or the livery, or the fact that the hubs are painted silver. But, it still looks good. Last but not least, here's the 2012 version: ![]() Another 'Meh' version, but it still looks good. I hope this casting continues in the mainline for 2013, or atleast in 5-packs. I'm hoping for a red one with black trim..... So, which design is your favorite? P.S. Those beautiful pictures are mine!

My favourites by far are the school bus designs and the MBX Science Center design. I was really excited to see this join the line, even though it has a large quantity of plastic. It looks great once you add light details and similar. You've taken great pictures to showcase this model. |

That's a decent casting. I remember picking up the mainline debut, but frankly I haven't paid much attention since. I can see I may have to change that! |

I've thought about picking up the school bus versions, but always end up passing on them... I think once I get into customizing, this will be one of the ones that I start out learning on... Have you picked up any of the Chevy bus versions that MB made? I have the National Car Rental bus, but that's it... I'm guessing that MB just tweaked the front end to make the old Chevy bus a GMC... |

I've got a handful of variations on the old Chevrolet bus, including the new modified plastic casting versions. I can definitely tell you that the GMC School Bus is a completely new casting, that takes styling innovation from the old Chevrolet model. They appreciate each other when compared side by side. |

Thanks NoirGuru for the nice comment! And, Buddhaa1, I have two versions of the Chevy Transport Bus. One from a 2009 Police 5-pack, here:![]() and this one, here, from an exclusive City Works 10-pack from 2009 as well I believe: ![]() *Not my pictures.* |

In my opinion, the best versions would be the 2010 and the 2009 versions, as they look the most realistic |

Yeah, I like those two a lot as well. They do look so realistic! I can't imagine seeing any buses looking like that in the line-up anymore...

this is great to see the differences between the Chevy and GMC buses... and there is something strangely appealing about that Ghoul Bus... lol... This is the only version of either bus that i have (i think, i need to double check)... http://diecast.spiraln.com/chevy/van/mb_transportbus/mb_transportbus_1999a.jpg |

Yeah, I much, much, much prefer the GMC School Bus opposed to the old Chevy. The New GMC has so much detail, so much in fact, it literally looks to me like a real GMC School Bus was hit by a shrink ray. The Chevy is a rather boring casting, and has a plastic body. Oh how I hate those. And Oh how often they seem to appear now......

I'm hoping to find an extra Chevy bus metal body casting one of these days, and drill it out to replace the base just to have a metal body and base! One day. |

Of course, I really like the school bus yellow ones, but I agree that the white one is very attractive as well. |
