Trouble On The Horizon....

We all know about Mattel and their licensing issues. There have been many. Subaru and BMW spring to mind, but luckily, those issues have been resolved. That is not the story, however, for Mercedes-Benz, as mentioned in Part 3 of the Ambassador Report. However, that isn't what this topic is about.

As quickly as issues can be resolved, issues can occur, and there is bound to be one popping up sooner or later. I feel as though one has, with Chrysler/Fiat. I know I'm 'Jumping the Gun' here, but Fiat now owns a large stake of Chrysler, and they're a COMPLETELY different company with COMPLETELY different standards. And they obviously aren't great standards, because there has only been one Fiat in the Matchbox line, and that was a looong time ago.

Also mentioned in John Lambert's Part 3 of the Ambassador report is how the Dodge Charger Pursuit is being slated for 2013. On another forum site, he posted there were 'a couple of issues' with that model. That does not seem like a good thing, and I do hope Fiat has nothing to do with it, and that its just Mattel being lazy, and cutting costs. It seems to me there may be problems down the road for Mattel and Chrysler/Fiat. There's always that one stick in the mud. I understand how far ahead I'm going with this, but what about the 2009 Dodge Challenger for 2012? It was seen shortly in a ten pack with models that had all already been released, and it STILL has not been released. And, there have been multiples of one model in ten packs, but none of them include the Challenger. It's almost as if they're replacing the Challenger with duplicates of models already in the packs. (No, this switching wasn't from thieves. )

Could be completely wrong, but then again, I could be completely right. Only time will tell.

Wow...I was really looking forward to the Dodge Charger pursuit.

Hopefully they don't stop the Ford Explorer Interceptor.

Support your local demo derby.

Seems MB has a good relationship with Ford as both the new California Mustang and the Stang convertible have already been released this year. I have doubts that Mb is having issues with the new Chrysler since they already have utilized the older Ram 4x4 and the Monaco police car from earlier this year. Think the Magnum is in a recent police 5 pack as well. From what has been posted in the Ambassador's report, I would tend to think they are having some production related issue and not a hold up on the license end.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Remember, each model has to be licensed seperately. Existing castings may be covered by previous licenses (each release needs to meet licensor approval), which may explain their use. There could actually be more than meets the eye. I hope not though- the current Charger was one of the few highlights for a rather bland Matchbox year.

Business contracts can be very complex, there's really just no way to well what is going on unless we hear it from the source. No skin off my back if they lose Chrysler though, but a new Charger would be neat. If I was Fiat and super picky, I wouldn't let a company produce that car without making those trick taillights light up

Yes, exactly. Chrysler/Fiat could be giving them a hard time with the new Charger. I surely hope this isn't the case as well.

Also, that Dodge Challanger is in a 9 pack that has been released in Canada, it has not been released here in the states yet. It should be soon. I am hopeing the current Dodge Charger Police is issued in place of the new casting Charger.
