I predict peg warmer. Especially if those wheels carry over often in the production model.

This is actually the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe.
I got all excited when I read Shelby Cobra topic.
I was expecting a new release of the Shelby AC Cobra.
I like the Daytona Coupe too!
But the Shelby AC Cobra does get my attention anytime and antwhere.

Unfortunately, the images of the new release of the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe are truly disappointing.
Plastic tires with really CRAPPY wheels.
Much more detail is needed to make this one a winner, otherwise it will just be another peg warmer.
Above are just my personal opinions so don't shoot me.

Cheers. Cobra

All opinions are welcome here on the Garage. We only ask you provide them in an adult, respectful and mature way. Members of the diecast companies do check in here on the Garage daily and it can't be fun to watch members trash away at your product. That said, if something doesn't look good or right, it's fair game to be discussed.

My apply above is meant for all here on the Garage, not singling anyone out.

The above said, good to see you back Gerry. Missed your presence here.

Sir Crafty, I am a ardent fan of most Johnny Lightning castings and have a huge collection of them.
There are occasions when I just like to express my opinion.
I'm not taking shots at Tom Zahorsky or the compnay that emplys him.
I'm just expressing how I feel in this case.
If my opinion offends others, WELL I can just leave and go play in another sandbox.
Maybe, you don't want or need me here.

Cheers. Cobra

I have been spending a LOT of money on F64 cars lately and have bought most cars in the last three releases instead of only half or less like I used to. I also collect Shelby cars and Mustangs. This one looks very unflattering, to be polite, and will be reluctantly added to my collection. At 3.47, it certainly could have had better wheels and more detail from what I can see here. I think accobra64 is right that it will be a pegwarmer, just like the plain green GTO with black wheels (which is still blocking pegs everywhere I shop). I think I have been spoiled by much better releases, so I hope y'all understand this is just my personal opinion and consider it fair criticism.
I approve this message.

I doubt the wheels are production.
I agree these are probably just sample wheels...but I can see them using them at some point. This is one factor that I think keeps the F64 line under criticism. Wheels are a large part of both design and realism factor for most JL collectors. Better selection in this area would go very far indeed in terms of wider appeal with adult collectors. When they get it right, you can see a huge difference in overall commentary across the board. 1+1 =

So I agree with AC 100% on that score. At the $3.47 price point, and on a plastic based car, lousy wheels just stand out as a corner that's been snipped too far for most collectors...if I may state the obvious.

Those are some swell examples that are nicely done. I didn't get several of these shown, but really like the flamed LF version. Also I don't recall the red and white #95, or probably would've snagged that one. Red and white is a favorite color combo on many cars, plus the wifey and I tied the knot back in '95...and since it was at Christmastime, we chose red and white as our wedding colors.

The group shots above by accobra64 all the more make the coming F64 version look very bland and unappealing.

The group pics of the Shelby Datyonas are really sweet. I've got the version that Bobby Williams sent to people for free plus a few of the others.

Gerry, sent ya a pm.

I have the copy from Bobby, too.
It is a prized possession in my collection.
I am truly thankful that Bobby had them made and loved the casting choice.
I believe that something like only 53 were made.
Both of us are lucky to own this very special casting.
A most wonderful and gracious gesture on the part of Mr. RWWCARGUY.
Bobby, if you ever do searches on the internet and run accross this message; I would like to take this opportunity to say:
THANK YOU!

Cheers. Cobra

I think Bobby had closer to a 1,000 made of his version. I had a couple. The red car pictured looks more like test shot than a production version. Either way I am pretty Daytona Cobra"d out. Besides the HT, Lightningfest, Kentuky Derby, and other JL, Shelby. HW, Kyosho, and others I bought almost 80 cars so my buddy could make us every racing liverys the Daytona Cobras ran in during its heyday

MAN~O~MAN... From looking at the previous castings and the ones I remember, that will defienitly be a peg warmmer... No detail at all and pure ugly wheels !!! Sorry, just my opinion !!!
