Support your local demo derby.

I wonder if there isn't a correlation between unique American derived items such as the Seagrave, '69 Caddy and '75 Chevy truck and popularity overseas in non American markets. This wouldn't be the first time that a item that was desired in one area of the world to be a peg-warmer elsewhere. The Prius, Insight, and Citroen DS among others tended to sit on pegs for a long time here in the States. Is MB planning of having just a straight up line for all over the world in 2013 or going back to select models for select markets?

The Seagrave is becoming a peg warmer in the UK in the shops you can find them, our local supermarket has at least a dozen in the plastic tub.No kiddy wants something so old looking. What on earth were Matchbox thinking of bringing that out for a child and together with an old police car.

They should be fired for wasting money.
Is this a joke?!?

That sounds like complete heaven!!!

How the heck could the Seagrave EVER be a peg-warmer?!?!?!?

And you're mad because you think that Matchbox wasted money making the Seagrave?!?

Have I gone crazy or am I really seeing this!!
Remember these are toys for toddlers that happen to be collected by adults.Myself I will buy the Police car like i did with the Seagrave but for Mattel to sell through to the intended market stop wasting money on old junk to the eyes of a three year old.

The Seagrave should have been a Lesney Edition aimed at a different market together with the old Police car.
Plus the real models were never sold in the UK, meaning kids there have likely never seen (or even heard of) them. Same with most of the rest of the world. Unless Matchbox raises their pricepoint (and their quality to match) than they will remain primarily a children's toy and as such, need to pick vehicles that appeal to kids (and not just kids in the USA since this is a global brand). I'm surprised that a fire truck is pegwarming, even a vintage one. I'd be more worried about the vintage 4x4s like the Bronco and upcoming Scout.

What Zach is suggesting about a return to seperate USA and ROW lines is a good idea. But it would require spending more money on Matchbox, something Mattel seems reluctant to do.

There is substance in what you write. The child usually goes through the bin and selects the toy and Mum or Dad pay.An old fire vehicle or police car hold no attraction to a UK child as you say they have never seen one that is why Corgi have stolen a march on MB by introducing emergency vehicles in the current guise.Siku tend to make a few country only for other markets they trade in.

I don't know, but they better take the lights, etc off that Buick and re-issue it in stock guise. Not many departments used the more expensive Buick for a cop car. I'll buy one to keep as a cop car, but stash a few to re-do if they never issue it stock. Pertaining to what sells and what doesn't, I feel kids will want most anything. The adult segment of the market seems pretty large, so it's nice to see something for us and for kids for a change. I know when I was a kid, I had (and still have) everything from redline HWs to Matchbox Opels, Citroens, Fiats, Cortinas, to Playarts and Zylmex. We didn't care, we wanted them all!

Actually there were a good many 56 Buick Hiway Patrol cars. They were bought for their high performance. They put the higher Horse power engines in the Specials, so they had a decent power to weight ratio.

Well, in this area, the Seagrave does not stay on the pegs for a complete day. The only way I got mine was to happen to show up at the store just after they put them out. The Seagrave anniversery pumper is a classic design in America. My 5 year old grandson thinks it is cool and I had to give up one of mine to him.
I have buddies of mine checking the stores for me for the buick cop car becaus I know you will have to be at the right place at the right time to get one. The Matchbox guys hit a home run on these!
