Our new WIP project for the week. I wanted this car to look more accurate in detail based on the actual car, and I disliked the original wheels that came with it. ![]() The wheels donor car. ![]() It should look more like this.. ![]() I have to fabricate a pair of longer axles to scale out the wide base plate of the Calfornia as we did here. The original axles from the 250 Testarossa was both narrrow for the purpose. ![]() I just found out that although fitting new wheels and axles to match the body width, the chassis plate and axle suspenders would not allow it to fit through. I have to saw thru the suspenders ![]() After sawing, I have to grind away the substantial material getting in the way of the wheels ![]() Filling away for more for closer and accurate tolerances without sacrificing structural rigidity. ![]() Bottom chassis plate was a problem too. ![]() What to do? Saw, grind and file away too. End result.. ![]() I believe it looks alright now..in every angle. The stance should be stable on every corner, as well as ride height and body balance. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Final test was to make it sure rolls freely, all show and no go is a no-no for me. It was well and smooth and sure it would be more when added with Teflon grease! ![]() That's all for the moment, we hung parts in the tree for awhile for more detailed treatment in our next time slot. ![]() TFV |

Looking good! I just alittle surprised that the Kyosho is not alittle more detailed than it should be. It appears that you do a great job putting the finishing touches on them. |

Actually this are one of the first series released by Kyosho around early year 2000, most notable problem with these are the wobbly wheel sets. |

After been away for awhile, we're now back to finish off this car, hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do, thank you. Here we are installing BMF ![]() ![]() Individual parts are now completely finished and ready for final assembly ![]() Cleaned, polished, re-assembled and re-polished now it is reborn! ![]() I cut off and bevelled the tail pipes for proportion, then painted chrome silver, clear orange and red over BMF for tail lamps, etched BMF for trunk detail and rear delineator cut from red reflective decals over BMF frames, blackwash for vents and Borani wire type wheels. BMF chrome for windshield frame, running boards, door handles, front and rear chromed bumpers are protected with clear top coat. ![]() Classic red body and beige interior and black dash combination, red textured decal for floors, cut BMF for gauges bezel, window crank and inner door handles, hard top catches, kit bashed and repainted shift gear, simulated varnished wooden paint over steering wheel, aluminum paint over spokes and, yellow for center. ![]() In order to avoid uneven surfaces due to multiple places of top coating detail pieces, it was done one time top coating the whole body, and I believe it came out good here. ![]() Highlights for hood scoop, re-polished perspex covers, front light pieces, side indicators too are in hand cut reflective decals. ![]() Clear yellow for fog lamps over flat blacked grille ![]() I am ready for cruisin'... ![]() Comparison between my previous attempt years back on my first 250 GT California in silver and the new comer ![]() ![]() TFV |
