Saw the first batch of these today at the WM in Mattoon. Thought about buying the Vega but already spent enough on Christmas shopping for the day. They're suppose to have the Toyota pickup carried over from the Hot Ones series released later in the year. Hopefully that one actually hits the pegs. |

I bought the Vega today. It has matte green paint which doesn't show up that well in photos, unfortunately. Definitely the best one out of the first release. I'm definitely going to get that COPO Corvette, but the Vega was a must-buy for me. |

This makes me even sadder that fixing the Vega will destroy the finish... unless I can fix the hood and make it black. Correction: This makes me even more dedicated to making sure I can remove the scoop and refinish the hood without destroying the matte green finish. My collection always has room for another Vega. Unrelated, I really hope the Supra, Skyline GT-X and SVO Mustang ship early in the year. Edit: Erm, Skyline GT-R... the one that's been warming pegs as a mainline... oh well, just means less competition for them. Edited by funeralxempire, Dec 19 2012, 12:18 AM.

Unfortunately, removing the hood scoop is going to require major work. It's part of the chassis, so removing it will require cutting. I, however, am keeping it as-is because I love me some dragsters. |

I've disassembled 3 or 4 of the Vintage Racers release of them, so I'm familiar with the process. The scoop is actually a separate cast piece, when you drill out the rivet underneath it it falls out and leaves you with a rectangular notch in the hood to sized accept the scoop. I'll just need to fill that with body filler. There's a thread on my Cosworth Vega custom from about a year ago with some info on the process.

Oh, I was unaware it was a separate piece. On this release, it's the same material as the chassis. Huh. |

Oh, that's a little disappointing.

Don't worry, it's still a separate piece. I checked. |
