I check in on Lamleygroup.com everyday to see what is being posted. Today there was a post asking what MB models you would like to see. It got me thinking because HWs dose a hot rod speed oriented line, what models would some of you guys like to see HW maybe cast in 2014? Now the way they were doing it was you could offer up two of your opinions. One classic and one current. I'd like to do it a bit different. So let's do four choices. 1. Classic rod 2. Current sports 3. Alternate choice 4. What you would not like to see I realize this could get out of hand and that's ok with me. The more the merrier, just all I ask is try and keep it to castings we haven't seen before OR maybe something you'd like to pop up from the past. This I just thought of cause I'd like to hear the different responses and what other guys are thinking. I would say do both brands but I know this is a HWs board. Here's a couple I'd like to see; Current: I'd like to see the new Dodge Dart Classic Rod: 67 Ford Galaxie 500 or 68 Chevy Impala Alternate: a 59 Ford Thames Panel Van To Go: The ridiculous designs I don't mind concepts but some stuff is so far fetched. Well there you go hope everyone has some fun with this and enjoys it. Thanks for anyone who participates. |

Current: Travis Pastrana's GRC spec Dodge Dart Classic: A second-gen (87-91) Honda CRX - Mugen bodykit, stock, otherwise tuned up, whatever, I don't care, just gimme CRXes. Alternate: That RSX casting they've only released once... preferably with a new, less outrageous spoiler. Please no more: Anthropomorphic or zoomorphic designs. I can deal with the other uglies, but the few zoomorphic designs I've seen in multipacks have made me cringe and weep. Any designs that cause small children to have to comfort a grown man in the toy aisle at Wal-Mart should be avoided. Edited by funeralxempire, Feb 12 2013, 12:28 AM.

1. Classic rod (To me..."classic" and "rod" are two entirely different things / themes.) Classic I would say bring back a Doosie...to make a dollar car I would expect some cut corners and artistic license, but a version of the Mormon Meteor or possibly the Coupe Simone (which I think would be easier to cast). Alternately a '33 Buick 75, in black with gangster white walls. Rod I would say a nice, scale correct T-bucket with an attractive scale correct engine...obviously something for a premium line, as there would be far too many child safety issues for a toy release. 2. Current sports Eh...haven't really followed in years and don't really care. Is there an attractive open two seater available out there anymore? You know, one *without* any GPS, cell phone, computerized additions that take away from "seat of the pants" driving? A car where the emphasis is on performance, not comfort or luxury? 3. Alternate choice I would love to see a Forward Control Corvair Van / Pickup, but I would rather it be done by the likes of JL, GL or M2. But in a pinch, HW would do. I think HW *could* be a good maker to do the 95ish Buick Riviera...*if* they can get the scale and proportions right and add detail so it doesn't come off as a blob of metal. Or perhaps a Buick Reatta would be a reasonable possibility. For a blast from the past, resurrect the Corgi 57 T-bird casting! 4. What you would not like to see Toys as such don't bother me. I want to see kids brought into the hobby, I want to see stuff in the line for them. I don't have to buy if I don't like, but every once in awhile I see a "toy" that just speaks to my inner child as *FUN!* We have to allow some free reign to designers to be creative, and with creativity there are going to be some duds...it goes with the turf. But every once in awhile something truly inspired comes of it, and that creativity just needs to be allowed to express itself. Matty is really the only maker that has that kind of potential and resource to be able to do that. |

1. Classic rod This is a bit of a toss up definition wise . . . a classic car or a hot rod? Not necessarily the same thing by any means. I'll go with 'classic' since i think hot rods have been done over and over. AMC Marlin - Actually would like to see JL or one of the collector brands make this but I think a basic $1 Marlin would be fine. 2. Current sports Subaru BRZ 3. Alternate choice 75 Chrysler Cordoba 4. What you would not like to see Agree with Wes to a point, HWs is a toy brand, lets not lose sight of that. I've come to accept they'll have wildly painted models with orange windows and purple wheels. |
