Lately I've been trying to fill out my collection of blackwalls by getting all of the 1979 first releases. Today, I'm posting two more on my blog. Here are a couple of photos, check out The Race Case for more.

:) "Spiderman, Spiderman...does whatever a spider can..." Ok - now that that old jingle is in my head - neat model of Sir Spiderman's Hot Wheels ride. While they were a bit of a gimmick, I always thought the scene machines were pretty neat. Thanks for sharing these two Inside Story models.

Pretty sure that was one of the toolings that found its way to India and sold as LEO.

I'm not familiar with that one. Do you have any more info?

I have most of the Scene Machines, missing some Simpsons variations and the Circus Cats Baja Breaker.

How did you photograph inside your Spidey scene machine? (By the way, nice spider.)

I just put a light through the windshield and focus the camera in the peephole. The camera does the rest!

The spider is a real black widow btw :o

I don't have but a small handful of LEOs, they are a bit on the hard side to come by in the states.

After a quick check on South Texas Diecast, it pretty well confirmed my guess that this casting was available in the states until about the mid-80s, then like a lot of other castings just kinda disappeared. So. Tex. lists a couple of Mexico issues from the late 80s I didn't know about, but I have seen the re-release (as the Beach Blaster, 1997 I believe) both on U.S. blue and white long card typical of the time, and in a LEO blister as well. If you look at the base of the '97 issue:

You will find it is made in India at that time, along with several others including a Jeep and a Neet Streeter.

Info on LEOs is tough to find, I get more simply by searching. The Neet Streeter alone, for example, can be found in a wide variety of paint schemes not available in the states...which makes it and several other popular castings quite desirable (translation: big $). Unfortunately none of the English language Hot Wheels guides I know of cover the LEO issues. They are certainly worth watching out for if you like unusual international releases!

Thanks, juantoo3, for the interesting info. Guntownal, I'm going to see if my camera is smart enough to figure that out!

I don't know if you know this or not, but your yellow Inside Story there is a rare variation on the paintjob!

See the following video here for more details from another collector who has all 3 variations. I linked to the specific part, so let it play where it starts at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks_3kOJxFHs&t=4m42s

I was going to say---"That thing looks really R-E-A-L!!!!!"

The casting looks like a door wedge, just my opinion, You just have to be into the vintage stuff I guess, ^_^

I agree that it's not a very attractive car. But here's one that's even uglier!
