Today's car of the day is Realtoy's 2003 Audi A8.

Wikipedia

The Audi A8 is a four-door, full-size, luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by the German automaker Audi since 1994. Succeeding the Audi V8, and now in its third generation, the A8 has been offered with both front- or permanent all-wheel drive, and in short- and long-wheelbase variants. The first two generations employed the Volkswagen Group D platform, with the current generation deriving the MLB platform. After the original model's 1994 release, Audi released the second generation in 2002 (2003 model year), and the third and current iteration in 2009 (2010 model year).

The 2003-2009 Audi A8 was my favorite of the high-end luxury sedans, and I seriously considered buying a 2006 model in 2008. I was shocked by their horrid reliability ratings, and that kept me from taking the plunge. But that is where our toy cars come in. I am still able to own the A8, without worrying about repairs. Realtoy did a phenomenal job on this car. It is difficult to believe this was a dollar toy.

Wikipedia

The second-generation Audi A8 built on the Volkswagen Group D3 platform was introduced in November 2002 in Europe and in early 2003 in the United States. The model was longer than the previous generation, with room for four or five large adult occupants in the cabin, depending on rear seat configuration. As with the previous version, two body variants of the second generation A8 are offered, the A8 (standard, or short wheelbase), and the long-wheelbase (LWB) A8 L. The A8 L adds 4.7 inches to the rear legroom and 0.43 in to the overall height of the car.

Wikipedia

In 2005, new internal combustion engines became available. For European and Asian market customers, the entry-level 3.0-litre V6 engine was replaced with a new 3.2-litre unit featuring Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), which it shared with the Audi B7 A4 and Audi C6 A6. The top-of-the-line W12 version debuted that year. The advantage of the W12 engine layout is its compact packaging, allowing Audi to build a 12-cylinder sedan with all-wheel drive, whereas a conventional V12 could only have a rear-wheel drive configuration as it would have no space in the engine bay for a differential and other components required to power the front wheels. In fact, Audi's 6.0-litre W12 is actually slightly smaller by overall dimensions than the 4.2-litre V8.

Support your local demo derby.

That's a lovely color of blue. Realtoy's attention to the front/rear tampos plus painting the window trim black on most models is highly commendable. Jermaine and James were both kind enough to hook me up with numerous models by RT.

My copy is black.

Not my cuppa tea...but I continue to be impressed by Realtoy. The detail they provide on what I'm pretty sure are essentially dollar toys is nothing short of impressive. No doubt some would love to see MBX return to this kind of detail...and I must admit it sure wouldn't hurt my feelings any!

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I too, have obtained some really cool RT's from Jermaine and James. I can't get excited with upscale sedan subjects, but I admire each casting I have. Dean sums it up best with his remark, "It is difficult to believe this was a dollar toy."

Real Toy does a very nice job with their "dollar" models. Nice plain cars with no nonsense tampo slapped across them - and nice lights detail!

Looks fantastic! I really appreciate the job that realtoy does with their models. I haven't seen one in a while, but I have a number of them in my collection.

One of the things Realtoy has learned is how you can enhance a lot a good mold with good tampo's... Maisto's Audi A8 has a similar mold (if not the same) but looks a lot more toyish....

Same happens with MotorMax... sometimes they are able to enhance a good mold with very good tampos, getting an impresive quality feel for the money (Çan example of this is MotorMax Pagani Zonda...)
