Today's car of the day is from Dean-O-mite's collection, and is CM's 's 2005 Skoda Fabia WRC.

Wikipedia

The Skoda Fabia is a supermini car produced by Czech manufacturer Skoda Auto since 1999. It is the successor of the Skoda Felicia, which was discontinued in 2001. The Fabia was available in hatchback, estate (named Fabia Combi) and saloon (named Fabia Sedan) body styles at launch, and since 2007, the second generation is offered in hatchback and estate versions. It is based on the platform of the Volkswagen Polo Mk4.

CM's was one of the Japanese diecast companies that sprang up after the popularity of the trading-car lottery style Konami and Kyosho cars. CM's focused almost exclusively on WRC rally cars, and then had a couple releases of stock Lamborghini models, and then CM's faded away into diecast history. There are not a lot of Skoda models in small scale, so this was a welcome addition.

Wikipedia

Part of the Fabia's success is the fact that all of its mechanical parts are developed by or in conjunction with Volkswagen, but are offered in a package that is priced to undercut other models in the Volkswagen Group. The only trace of non-VW Skoda left in the Fabia is the 1.0 and 1.4 8v "MPI" engines, which was a modification to Skoda's own 1.3 engine, and was used in pre-Volkswagen Skodas such as the Estelle and Favorit. In 2005 the Fabia received a facelift, with changed front fog lights and grille, slightly different rear lights, new steering wheel and revised specification levels.

Wikipedia

Following a long history of class victories in lower levels of motorsport, Skoda became a participant in the FIA World Rally Championship in the 1999 season, with World Rally Car models of the Skoda Octavia. Skoda's best result with the Octavia WRC was Armin Schwarz's third place at the 2001 Safari Rally. From mid 2003, the Octavia was replaced by the smaller Skoda Fabia. Skoda used the 2004 season to develop the car further, but did not achieve much success the following season. However, at the season-ending Rally Australia, 1995 world champion Colin McRae was running second before retiring. Skoda then withdrew from the series, and the 2006 season saw Skoda represented by the semi-privateer Red Bull Skoda Team.

Colorful! CM's has made some very nice rally cars with loads of detail. Not the easiest cars t find and nice to see them do a Skoda. I have a few of their Subaru rally car releases.

I don't care for econoboxes...that much is known.

I would not care for this in stock trim...I just wouldn't. Yet, throw a believable rallye trim on it and I'm drawn like a moth to a flame...I love it!

I prefer cars when both sides are the same. Obviously, I relate better to the "Skoda" on the right side over the unfamiliar characters on the left. But this was a real race scheme driven in 2005, according to CM's themselves, and backed up by photos online.

I've never heard of CM, but I'm impressed with this one! I haven't really heard of any Skodas being made in small-scale, so this is an nice one!

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
Now this is the way to do a Rallye car. It may be gaudy, but it's accurate. Not some sedan with a few stripes, a big number and a few unreal sponsors...and orange glass.
The color scheme makes NASCAR decos tame!!
The back view reminds me of some liberal college student car with stickers for everything he wants to stop or hate.

It is really hard to show the true name, with the apostrophe and 's' being often confused as part of the description, rather than part of the brand name, but the name is, awkwardly, " CM's " :)

What you said!

It seems like this is a company I need to check out, as rally cars are always neat to have in small scale!

I have a Lancia Delta HF and an ST205 Celica GT-4 from CM's. Their models are outstanding and this is no exception.
