Found in a hidden away bag at the flea market vendor, she pulled this and one car out, which I bought both, 37 cents each. A Matchbox bucket truck in blue, North Carolina Rescue 12, made for McDonald's. Someone had posted I think a Hotwheels bucket truck which worked, this one is cast closed and has no hinges to open. Still, since my wife's kid and grandkid live in NC, I bought for that reason, sort of. Plus I like it. ![]() Jerry |

Hidden away plus the NC significance factor...looks like this one had your name on it. Cool story. |

This model was supposed to have a working lift but for the McD special, they removed the moving parts since they were a choking hazzard. |

This McDonald's Happy Meal promotion coincided with the Matchbox Across America series of cars. The stickers came on a sheet in the baggie with a vehicle, so they were to be applied by the purchaser. |

I have one too, but mine is in horrible shape, decal-wise. It was in a flood, which mangled the stickers. I might remove them completely. |

So I was catalogueing this new fire engine into the database when I noticed it was made for McDonalds! No stickers came with it, but it is still a cool casting in a nice blue color I dont normally see on fire trucks - are they painted blue in Canada? Based on the base plate copy right data 2002 - does this coincide with the release date from McDonalds or just the casting design? Found this list and reference to this series in this post. http://swiftysgarage.net/single/?p=10039481&t=9031090 (MCD-004) SNORKEL FIRE TRUCK BLANK, US & CANADA ![]() Matchbox McDonalds Snorkel Fire Truck by Milton Fox, on Flickr ![]() Matchbox McDonalds Snorkel Fire Truck by Milton Fox, on Flickr ![]() Matchbox McDonalds Snorkel Fire Truck by Milton Fox, on Flickr Edited by Milton Fox Racing, Jul 10 2017, 12:58 AM.

Interesting....I have one still in the bag and I didn't know it had a 'fixed' bucket/snorkel boom, or the solid 'bucket'. Never thought I needed to look that closely. Thanks for the extreme close ups! |

Milton Fox Racing - the McDonald's US issue of this truck had stickers that matched the tampo of the regular MBAA snorkel for North Carolina. The Canadian McDonald's version version came with stickers that said Matchbox and had a flame on them. These were the colors Matchbox choose to paint them. There are some departments that have blue fire engines but it is fairly rare. Thanks for the additional information pjedsel! The regular MBX with the articulating boom is super cool! The fireman in the solid bucket was what first caught my attention with the casting b2young. I have some McDonalds Tonka construction pieces somewhere around here that I used to have up at the work office, but they are packed away for the moment and of course a few McDonalds 'Vette releases, but cant recall even a mention of MBX McDonalds before yesterdays base discovery. I was only familiar with the Taco Bell series. Edited by Milton Fox Racing, Jul 10 2017, 10:32 AM.

I think as noted these were tied in with the Matchbox Across America series - the surprise for most of us was the altered castings with the non working parts - such as the snorkel with the boom and the ambulance with the rear door. |

It's based on the #35 Merryweather fire engine. (Also an English vehicle...) |
