The car for today is M2 Machine's 1955 Pontiac Star Chief.

Wikipedia.com

The Star Chief was a car built by General Motors' Pontiac division between 1954 and 1966.
Between 1954 and 1957, the Star Chief was Pontiac's prestige model; the car was easily identified by its chrome star trim along its sides

When the storyline of I Love Lucy pointed towards a Hollywood setting in the 1954-1955 season, the characters "drove" (in episode 110, "California Here We Come") to the West Coast in a 1955 Star Chief convertible. In 1954, Pontiac also introduced air conditioning with all the components under the hood, a first for the price range.[2] Seat belts were added as options in 1956.

Prior to the introduction of the Star Chief, all Pontiacs had shared the modest wheelbase of the Chevrolet. The introduction of this new premiere model in 1954 was the first application of the longer 123.5 inch (313.7 cm) wheelbase of the junior Oldsmobiles and Buicks to the Pontiac division. Power the first year came from Pontiac's venerable straight eight engine; this was superseded by the new V-8 power in 1955. Also for '55, the new Star Chief Safari two door hardtop wagon, which was similar to Chevrolet's Bel Air Nomad, was introduced. This variant lasted through 1957; after that the Safari name was used for all of the division's standard four door wagons.

My grandparents had a new Pontiac Star Chief though their model was a '56 or '57. I'd only heard stories about it from my dad. M2's reproduction offers their standard opening doors and hood along with lots of plated chrome parts.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I bought every Star Chief by M2 I have found. The huge and bulky look of this car attracts my attention. It captures well the awe I had of these extravagent early '50's cars when I was very young. Relatives and neighbors drove cars like this. M2 captures that period well.

I liked the 55 Pontiac I bought one real cheap in 1968 used it as a winter rat and put my 68 Mustang away for the winter. Back then the old cars were dirt cheap you would buy an old car every winter and put the new car in storage I still do it I have a new truck and a 1999 Jeep I use all winter.

The first M2s I found were the clear ones being "clearanced." (no intended pun) I bought every one they had, figuring at least they might be good custom fodder, although I never got around to it. One of the brightest gems to get my notice was the 55 Pontiac. It seems like every maker who has been in business for more than a few years has made the 57 Chevy, and most have done the 55 Chevy as well, even the 56 has been getting some effort over the past dozen or so years...but the cousin brands from GM get little attention. I was happy to see a 57 Buick by RC, but otherwise this 55 Poncho is the only other non-Chevy tri-5 GM that comes to mind outside of Muscle Machines. Sad really, because there are so many great looking old mid 50s vehicles (M2 must have tapped into that vibe!), and GM is no exception. Any chance for a Safari wagon? (Think "Pontiac Nomad")

A neat and welcome issue from M2. Great to have other mid '50's GM cars besides the Chevy issues (nothing wrong with those but as said, everyone does the tri-five chevy's and ignores the Pontiac's and Olds and such). A lady (actually she was a relative) at the end of the block had a red and white mid '50's Pontiac - to many years have passed and the old memory chips are not as good as they used to be so not sure if hers was a '55 or '56 - but remember it well and even got to ride in it a few times.

Great model by M2!

One of my tape-collecting pals used a Star Chief for a daily driver back in the early 1990s...I knew what it was since I had the M2 version. He says that almost no one recognizes it.

@ Wes - HWs did issue a '57 Buick wagon in stock form a few yeas back in a premium release. You're right though, there's a lot of non Chevy mid 50s items missing. I'm blanking on other GM (BOP) '55-'57 issues outside of Buick wagon.
