Today's car of the day is from mentalpower's collection, and is Husky's 1965 Ferrari 250 LM Stradale Concept.

The 1965 Ferrari 250 LM Stradale was debuted by Pininfarina at the 1965 Geneva Motorshow. The white and blue stripes had been chosen to appeal to American consumers. By the close of the show, Pininfarina claimed they had received orders from customers to produce the car but this example was the only one to ever be created. After its inaugural debut at the Paris Motor Show in 1965, Pininfarina had hoped for more interest in the car, but with only 16 solid requests, the idea to create this version of the 250 LM was abandoned.

It was a pain to find information about the car, because Husky wrongly printed on the car's base the name 'Ferrari Berlinetta 250 GT', which is not the name that lasted in the end...
The car is a design experiment by Pininfarina to transform the Ferrari 250 LM racing car into a street version. This design evolved in the next years into the Ferrari Dino 206 GT. There is little information about the car in Wikipedia.

This one-off creation with chassis number 6025 was created by Pininfarina as a road car. The wheelbase was lengthened to 2600 mm allowing more interior space for its occupants. This was untraditional for a Ferrari automobile since even their road-worth cars were still intended to be raced. By expanding its wheelbase, Pininfarina was well on the way to producing a luxury automobile. Extra space was cut into the roof allowing more head room for the passengers as they entered and exited the vehicle.

And here you have it, side by side, next to Hot Wheels' Ferrari 250 LM:

I was most interested to learn that this version was the concept for the public, road-going version. That makes this toy a bit more interesting for me, over the similar Hot Wheels racing version.

What a lovely casting as well, I dig the vintage charm of the piece. And it's a cool Ferrari on top of that!!

It's a Ferrari, so I love it! :bowing:

I always smile to see old castings, where details, such as door gaps and hood lines, stick out instead of in.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
OH, Nooooooo, another Ferrari I don't have and makes my collection look like nothing.
It looks so good for it's time period. Note the RAISED panel lines like on the old plastic model kits! So collectible, so cool,
Santa, please help me this Christmas, and I'll leave you a six pack of Coors Batch 19. :P

To me, it was more Matchboxy than Doggie, given the metal base. A lovely model; one of my favorite Huskys.
