Today's car of the day is from mentalpower's collection, and is Penny's 1967 OSI Alpine Silver Fox 'Bisiluro.'

A strange body that resembled more to a nautical vehicle was introduced to the 1967 Turin Motorshow. Conceived for a possible use in the race or for the attempts of record, she was equipped by a Alpine engine to four cylinders of 1000 cc., positioned behind the seats on the left side. Among the two anterior prominences was positioned three wing-shaped aids that furnished an aerodynamic support. The first one was usable to firm vehicle, the second, that central, with the vehicle in drive, while the third one, systematized on the back one it was fixed and it also included the brakes.

The base of the diecast only marks 'OSI Bisiluro'. Bisiluro in Italian means literally bi-torpedo, and it is a nickname that received the car due to its strange, double torpedo shape. The car make and the car itself are both a rarity... Wikipedia has only an article on the brand, not on the car.

The scale is 1:66, but to have a better idea of its size, here is a comparison pic.

The splittin' image strikes again! Or maybe this was the inspiration? It is a Penny car (Polistil of Italy, I presume), so big points in my book for that. But this is certainly one of the more odd looking pieces I've seen from them. I didn't know there was a real car built to look like this, so that does make it a bit more appealing. Very nice, very unusual...thank you for sharing!

Support your local demo derby.

It's a car with split personality.

I'm just kidding!

This one always made me think of a space ship zipping on its way to Mars. :D I have (or had as I may have sold it a while back) this one in my collection of Polistil models. It is an odd looking car but tends to fit the era when a lot of desigers were experimenting with rather exotic and often times wierd looking cars.

What class of power boat racing does this one plug into???
Penny's 1967 OSI Alpine Silver Fox 'Bisiluro.' That sure is a mouthful. Sounds like a fishing lure.

A great little model that was on my wants list for quite a while.
It has also been done by TinToys and Speedy, strange that such
an odd little car was done by three makers.
