Today's car is from Piotr's collection and is the Johnny Lightning 1969 AMC AMX.

The AMC AMX is a two-seat GT in style and approach sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation for the 1968 through 1970 model years.[2] The AMX was also classified as a muscle car, but "unique among other American cars at the time due its short wheelbase". The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird . To a degree, the AMX was a competitor with America's only other two-seater of the era, the Chevrolet Corvette[6] for substantially less money. With a one-inch (2.5 cm) shorter wheelbase than the Chevrolet's 2-seater, "the AMX was often seen by the press as a Corvette competitor

The AMX was not only sporty and attractive, but it introduced many industry firsts.[20]
The American Society of Automotive Engineers named the AMX as the "Best Engineered Car of the Year" in 1969 and 1970

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
Being a former 1974 Javelin owner, I almost had heart failure when I found this casting.
I think I stashed away an extra, but the one I opened was my desktop toy for a long time until I put it in a Jammers plastic display case to prevent it getting too beat up and worn from handling. It is one of my top 5 favorite JL castings and color schemes. BWF, nice wheels, great graphics, and a good body shape. A winner all the way!!

Gonna go with Ivan on this one...a pleasant surprise when JL brought it out, and one of the better looking AMCs to boot!

I like the car - glad JL brought it out but not a fan of the black with flames series.

This is a very different take on the black-with-flames theme, with the all-yellow hood area. I am not sure if I ever realized there were also ghost racing stripes on this issue...

Unique little car, for sure.
