The short answer is yes. Lledo Trackside which I only just learned of, were made in 1/72 scale. I see Lledo were made in Enfield, England, just north of London...so absolutely England, although I suppose the heart of England could still be technically Gt. Britain. Since I am not familiar with Lledo Trackside, or Vanguards for that matter, I haven't gone there in my search. I don't know if they made a Model A van. Hard to tell the scale of yours from the pic, but gauging by the HS castings I would be very surprised if yours is much smaller than the typical 3 inch 1/64ish scale. The only other "off brand" I can think of is Oxford, but I'm fairly certain they focused on British makes only. One more comes to mind, EFE, but they focus on British large Lorries (semis and the like). I just found this site: http://www.ehattons.com/Trade/stocklist/prodlist.aspx?ManID=1000402&PrTyID=1000669&ScID=1000588 Seems they focus on model railroad accessories, they have quite a few lists of OO (1/72) scale items, including "Corgi trackside" (which I hadn't heard of before). They also cover some Oxford, EFE, Busch, Hornby and several others. I would suggest taking a gander through here and see if you come up with anything. I'm guessing you've already been through this before as you seem to know more about your model than I do. I'm just trying to help you out. |

Here's an update. I decided to bring this up at Vintage British Diecast. It was made in Wales, and is still available, as a tourist model, but pricey. My question though is, where the heck would my grandparents get it? They have never traveled abroad, and mine's blank, and doesn't have the Welsh flag on it. Edited by cody6268, Dec 8 2014, 07:31 PM.

Hard telling. Souvenirs turn up in the darndest places. Between Estate sales, flea markets, yard sales, gift from a friend, or any of a number of other possibilities...without knowing your Grandparents or any specifics it would all be guesswork. On the upside it is a joyful serendipity for you! You have an unusual piece few others can say they have, and one I personally feel you can be proud to say you own! |
