Matchbox Collector
Hopefully you can remember Part 1 of my pictorial review regarding the best Matchbox package I have ever received. If you haven't read part 1 yet, please do! It includes some fantastic Matchbox models such as the Ferrari 360 Spyder, Ford F-150 SVT Lightning and the sexy BMW Z3 Roadster. Click here to view Part 1 of my dive into this stunning Matchbox package.

For those of you who have been eagerly waiting for Part 2, I apologize for the long wait. Often times, life gets in the way, and at my age, school plays a huge role in that. Hopefully I am able to resurrect a consistent schedule to get around 3 posts published in a week. I will make sure to work something out in the coming weeks.

We'll start off with something small: MB561 Smart Cabrio. Although in real life these little critters tend to annoy me, I do find the Matchbox miniature to be rather cute. I feel the same way towards the Nissan Cube and Toyota Prius models. The bright yellow on this Cabrio is certainly striking!

Second up is MB634 Ford GT40. This was a holy grail on my Matchbox-wants list, so I am super-fantastically-ecstatic about finally having it in my own hands, under my ownership. This is a superb casting, and this is the best version of the GT40 there is. I absolutely love it. I can't believe that I only had to pay $0.50 for it. The model is immaculate, and that's not even a slight exaggeration.

Here we have MB636 1968 Mercury Cougar. I'll openly admit that I am not a screeching fan of classic automobiles, partly because of my age, but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate them. The Mercury Cougar is definitely one of the automotive greats, at least when it comes to styling. Sleek and stealthy definitely comes to mind, so the Cougar nameplate is an appropriate one.

MB688 1961 Jaguar E-Type Coupe is one beautiful Matchbox. This casting follows the curves of the real vehicle almost perfectly, so the Matchbox model is very attractive as a result. This subtle blue certainly does wonders for it.

I also picked up this white version of the E-type. Although it is not quite as nice as the blue version above, it is still spectacular in its own way. In fact, there's probably no color that would look poor on this car.

Next on the list is MB694 Routemaster Bus. This is certainly one of the best models produced under the Mattel era. In fact, I am even brave enough to say that this IS the best model ever produced under the Mattel era of Matchbox. Care to argue? I didn't think so. Another version is always welcome in my collection, as I am always looking to expand my Routemaster lineup. The gold body on this version is beautiful, especially along with the sharp black tri-spokes.

I also made sure to snatch up some modern Ford GT's, i.e. MB671 Ford GT. This red version with dual-white racing stripes and lace-wheels is the debut model of the modern Ford GT, and was also very high on my wishlist. Although I was not even a collector at its debut, I can imagine the excitement that this model released, particularity due to its keen timing after the Hero City epidemic. Wowie!

This orange version of the modern-day Ford GT was also very high-ranking on my Matchbox wishlist. The skin-peel orange color goes unbelievably well with the black 10-spokes, black light background and racing livery. This is a very handsome model that I am proud to finally own.

And, there's even one more version of the Ford GT that I purchased from this outstanding seller. And surprise, surprise, it was also very high on my wants list. Sensing a pattern here? This is another model that I once had and then gave away to my friend because of my young, immature self and because I was not yet devoted to my Matchboxes. I am so glad to have some of the old models that I gave away when I was little back in my possession. This model is very nostalgic, for all the right reasons.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Lastly, we arrive at MB742 Garbage Truck. Again, high on my wants list. In fact, most debut models that I have yet to purchase are tugging on my shirt sleeve, so this is just one less pull that I have to worry about. The design on this version is very realistic, and it makes me sad that it is no longer in the Matchbox lineup. Hopefully its casting modification for 2014 does it some justice, and serves us a reappearance.

Well, there we have it. All of these models should have proved to you that this was the best Matchbox Package that I have ever received. There are so many gems that I got in this box that I can't even fully fathom getting so many in one package. The other models that I purchased were based solely on aesthetics, and boy, was it worth it once I got them up-close.

My Matchbox collection is greatly improved by this one package, and I can't wait to receive many, many more!

There's part 2!

Sweet pick ups, and I'm especially loving the GT40! Aside from that, there were so many great models that you were able to pick up!

I'm glad that you're really happy! Now all you need is a dio to play with these on.

I've got that version of the GT40, sure is pretty! That's the great thing about MB from this era- you can have most of them for pretty cheap, even though they're some of the nicer $1 die-cast ever made.

Really nice additions to your collection.

I'm not sure I ever did buy the Smart car when they were out, I think maybe I didn't like how big a scale Mbx made it, seemed like they should have made it tiny to seem right.

Honda all the way!!!!!
The Ford Gt is one of my favourite castings.
The one in Gulf Oil colours would have to be the best one IMHO. It took me ages to find at a reasonable price but I was very happy to eventually get my hands on it.

Very nice cars! I also have the Smart Cabrio, as well as the Nissan Cube and Toyota Prius. And, a Honda Insight. Can't say that I'd want any of the 1:1 cars, but I like variety in my collection.

Ah-HA! I found you, number 24 and 25.

I don't quite remember if I stated this fact here, but I received 25 Matchboxes in this package. I was told that by the sender, and when I got the models, and eventually finished staring at them, I did end up counting a full 25. However, my first post (Part 1) had 13 photos, and this one (Part 2) just 10, but was slated to have 12 photos. I was left scratching my head, wondering what the other two models were, or where they had gone.

Well, after some organizing of models in my new Jammers cases, I ended up finding these two parked on my bureau, far away from the other 23 models.

MB737 Quarry King
I love debut versions of models. It just seems that the debut version of a Matchbox is the best version, no matter what. Maybe it's because the model is highly-anticipated, or because the casting is fresh, or maybe even because the design team really wants to start the model off with a bang, and puts a lot of work into the first outfit. Whatever the case may be, it leaves me scrambling to get debut versions of models, and this version of the Quarry King in yellow did not disappoint. It is by far one of the best versions out there.

This orange version is even better than the yellow version, though. Oddly enough, this is version B of the debut model, so technically, this really isn't the debut model. But it sort of is. So I've already broken my rule. Either way, it is definitely the better version of the two, as the orange just makes the Quarry King look a little more handsome.

There, now we're done!

I hope you enjoyed,

I couldn't agree with you more. I feel exactly the same. I really do hope that 2014 brings out some more mini-rides, like the ones you listed!
