These were fun (and aggravating at the same time) to hunt down and collect. Do you think we will ever see MBX offer store exclusives like them again? ![]() ![]() |

Outside of the Mini Cooper, I never did find the Wal Mart exclusives in Wal Mart. I was able to get the ambulance and police car through the kindness of other emergency vehicle collectors. |

Those are fun models. I remember the cooper also showed up at TRU at the end of that year. |

I don't think I have any of these either. If I saw them, I surely would have gotten them. Funny, because WM has been keeping up with new MB releases fairly quick. Because they are not buying two zillion of them like HW. |

Same here. Although I really, really, really liked all four of those models, they still weren't worth a trip to Wal-Mart. Ugh, Wal-Mart. *shudder*

A lot of members here really don't seem to prefer going to Walmarts for diecast. I can't do anything about that view, but I actually like Walmarts. Good selection (most of the time), and it's pretty cheap. I've found that the service is actually pretty good there too. Just my view on this topic. |

Thanks, I'm glad folks like the pics, but no Daniel I don't work for WM, back when I did these I was just trying to be creative with the photos, I guess it is kind of advertising, but I figure they might be good if my memory ever goes, at least it will help me remember what these models were all about. besides, that was the aggravating part of hunting them....having to keep checking WM for them.I was lucky to find all mine on the pegs, I think it was because the ebay dealers in my area didn't know they were exclusives when the first couple models came out, but I actually never found the Mini at WM, I was lucky to find mine at TRU late that year, like Mustang Jerry mentioned. |

I complain plenty myself, but the fact is if you prefer looking for diecast in hand rather than online, like me, (and these days I like cheaper better too) WM is just there, usually easy to get to, and they more consistently keep up on the latest releases in my area....which isn't too good lately though. |

Around here, Wal-Marts are disgusting. They are filled with workers who don't care about their job, the store is usually a filthy mess, the selection of products is very poor and often times food (opened) and rodents are found in the stores. I am not being rude to anyone who's a member and works at a Wal-Mart, but where I live, they are the epitome of disease. They're no Target. Edited by mbx64, Oct 3 2013, 08:14 PM.

Walmart is the worst in so many ways. We wont shop there for anything. That said, I bought all of these on ebay a couple years ago. They might come up for sale from me in the near future. |

1. Canadian Walmarts never seem to get the Exclusives 2. I would like to get the white pickup some day 3. Here in PEI Walmart is the only place other then Dollarama to buy diecast and they only have MB HW and Kid Connection Motormax, and Adventure City Maisto. 4. Walmarts in Canada are quickly becoming a junk store, messy and hard to get service |

I like these models and was fortunate enough to get all four (also needed some help as this is right about the time Matchbox became impossible to find at retail). As for whether we'll see exclusives from Matchbox in the future, that's up to the retailers. The problem is I woouldn't doubt a store comes to Mattel wanting to do a Matchbox promo and gets persuaded to do a Hot Wheels exclusive instead. |

All of this, except some of them in Ontario seem to be decent. The ones in well-off areas *cough*Markham*cough* are always clean and nice looking, but it's hit and miss when you're in more economically diverse areas. Since they don't do exclusives in Canada the main reason for me to hit-up Walmart is that there's no other retailers locally that stock diecast. |

I find shopping at Wal-mart to be very pleasant in the northern Virginia, USA area. They are kept up nicely, many have been recently renovated, and they have team meetings in the mornings at my close-to-work WM, with rah-rah exortations, etc. LOL. Most of the employees put on a good face, anyway. I don't see many scowling. Yes, I've seen some disgusting stores in my travels, but up around where I live, they may pay better due to a more wealthy clientele frequenting them, so they are more apt to pay attention to details. While the quality of some of the merchandise is suspect ( I won't buy tools or garden tools from WM usually ), minor items like Diecast cars are an exception, and between WM and TRU, my two main stores, just about the only places I can find them. TRU just doesn't have the selection anymore, and barely restock any high-end diecast frequently, Target's Matchbox restocking is pathetic in my area, so all my recent Chase vehicles have come from WM , except for those pink M2 Superbirds I got at TRU. Overall I have no problems with WM, they offer choice, variety, and convenience ( many stores are 24 hour in my area ), and while occasionally crowded, I can deal with some gridlock I drive in it every day. WM may be a devil's den to some, but overall, I'm willing to deal with that demon when I have to. Jerry |

I remember when these first started appearing I was lucky enough to be in USA. I popped in Walmart and found the GMC and Dodge rather easily. I found a few of them and picked them up for other people. I was back in the UK by the time of the Mini appearing, but that was the model that was a total mess up by Mattel. The blue was supposed to be a Walmart USA exclusive, with everywhere else getting a white model. However, when they started appearing on ROW short card in the UK they were also blue. It turned out that the white was available in USA at other stores, where Walmart got the blue and so did anywhere around the world that got ROW short cards (UK, Europe, Australasia etc). In fact I would hesitate to say the blue could even be more common than the white. The white never appeared on ROW short card. Even though, I still managed to get a shade variation on the white one. |

Nobody likes Walmart but if it wasn't for this one store in my parts I would practically buy all my stuff off of Ebay. So I grateful. If the aisles were a little bigger and the pa was turned off it wouldn't be so hard sometimes to shop there. |

The few WM stores in my area are newer buildings and are not trashy at all. The workers are friendly. But move in towards the city even adjoining suburbs they are ghettoed out. Crap and merchandise lying on the floors, scary three-eyed people dressed in weirdo outfits. This is a gathering place of all the tattooed, body-pierced and social rejects you ever could see. I steer clear. Nice pictures Doug. Edited by Hosspower98, Oct 4 2013, 02:22 PM.
