Ford F-150 SVT Lightning; Superfast

Well, it's been a while since I posted any pics, and I apologize for that. School's been somewhat busy, and with things going on I just haven't had the time to post any pics.

Anyways, in my finds thread, Clem24 wanted to see pics of this, and now here it is.

The Ford F-150 SVT Lightning (second generation) is a special edition of the standard F-150, and differs as it has suspension modifications. The engine is still the same (5.4L V8), but there is a supercharger included. Since there was extra power, Ford borrowed the automatic 4 speed gearbox of the Super Duty pick ups. There are about 28,000 second generation Lightnings that were produced.

Onto the casting.
This was part of my recent order from Milezone, and it's my first Superfast.

Let's look at the front. Very good detail, with the black grille, nicely done headlights and the clearly distinguishable 'Ford' logo. Very nice!

For the side, it's nicely done, but the paint seems to be a bit thinner around the lines. A simple yellow color makes this casting pop out more than any ridiculous tampoes. The wheels really complement this casting well, and I hope that MB will use these wheels a lot more in the future.

Onto the rear. Once again, the 'Ford' logo is distinguishable, along with the branding of the model. The license plate is also a nice touch, as it says 'Matchbox' on it.

Here is the F-150 SVT Lightning with a few other F-150s (all SVT Raptors)

The bottom line is that it shows that if you make a model nice and simple, it turns out well! There are no massive tampoes on this model to make it pop out more, but a simple yellow color does the same purpose. This is how you do a collector model, and in turn collectors will buy it!

Hope that you enjoyed the overview!

Support your local demo derby.

This model sitting next to the JL '93 Lightning would make for a cool comparison as well.

Sweet, thanks for the pics! I really wanted to see how good it looks with the tampos and such... I am huge sucker for the Superfast series. Only note I would have is that those are mainline wheels and not Superfast wheels... Anyways think I am gonna need to track one of these down!

Thanks for the pics,

I don't remember this one, now I'm wondering if I got this packed away, or any other SF versions for that matter...anybody know if there were other SF paint schemes too?

For the record, the SVT Lightning was a concept for this generation of F-150. It was never produced. The closest relative that was actual was the Roush F-150.

It is a nice sample nevertheless. Thanks for the review Terence.

Great review, Terence! I look forward to seeing more of them.

I actually like this Superfast particularly because it doesn't have the Superfast wheels. This was part of a lucky group of models that managed to get fitted with 10sp wheels instead of the, what I consider, pretty ugly Superfast wheels. This Ford itself is nicely done, too! The casting and tampo prints are all executed well enough to overly satisfy the average collector.

And I had no idea that this was a concept. I never paid much attention to this truck, other than it was really cool, so I never cared to read up on it. Thanks for that, Jack!

This one is nice. These trucks are real beasts when they want to be. These are some of the only trucks that can really burn rubber.

I have all those and plenty of others as well, just shows that a few short years ago i was hunting the shops in Berlin and picking up the odd stuff that was available as distribution had started to slide and today we end up with all poodle dung as those "plucky little design guys" know we all love.

For instance

Awesome write up and Pictures. In that one pictures looks like the Ford Rapture is a little aggressive or maybe jealous. LOL

One more nice shot of the 2003 (2004) SVT Ford F-150.

I have the Superfast H3 Concept (I don't think the 1/1 was in production when I purchased this one). I like it except for the bling wheels that were characteristic of this series.
