I know what I would think if I titled this "Double Deckers" or something...the itty bitty Matchbox or some other 3 inch model smaller than HO scale.

That's not what these are. They are darn close to if not 1/64 accurate.

If I said one was Corgi...you might think 3 inch, but that one was a Leyland Titan, a very different bus with a very different look about it. Or you might think large scale 1/43 or 1/36, for which Corgi is well known...and likely this one was sold in that range. As fortune would have it, that means it scales out close to 1/64!

By itself, this is cool...and the base is marked Corgi, and if you can read the fine print on the sticker details, you can find the name Corgi and the little mascot dog on the front and back.

Along about the same time I found this:

I didn't pay it much nevermind, until one day I realized this one is not a Corgi...this one is a.....

Zylmex!

Clearly marked on the base, and in the same places on the front and back on the sticker decos you can find the Zylmex name and logo if you know where to look (and the pics are clear enough).

Now...strictly guessing on my part, because the Corgi does not say Mattel on the base I would guess this to be from before the end part of the 80s when Matty bought Corgi. Again strictly guessing, Matty had no use for the casting and somehow Zylmex ended up with it. The two castings are virtually identical, the differences primarily in decoration.

Now that is a cool comparison. I have neither of those castings - but am now interested in both. Thanks for showing these.
