What do you want to know? This was from a series of Team Convoy models Matchbox issued with the hauler, a race car and support truck. Duckhams is a UK oil brand giving the set a realistic appearance. Other sets were lettered for Tizer, Pepsi, Seven Up, Fuji Film, De. Pepper and others. I believe they were issued in the '80's.

Also they are very easy to sell at a premium if you bought them right. Non boxed in mint condition also sell so easily. These sets are bursting with play value unlike the total disgusting dross they make today.

Team Convoy were launched under Unioversal's ownership in the mid 1980s. This set, known as TC-9, was released in 1986 and came with the Ford Sierra on the back of a Kenworth truck alongside a support vehicle.

Although early preproduction mock-ups had a Porsche 959 as a possible candidate for the race vehicle.

Slightly off topic... is the Welly Ford Sierra a copy of the MBX one? That casting sure looks like the Welly one I have.

Cool sets! This Duckham's one looks really good, I have a Pennzoil set like it. I think Bill is right about the play value of these sets being so much better than things offered today.

The Welly is quite a bit smaller than the Matchbox.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
If this is available I'd be interested in it.

That's really interesting, David. Thanks for the info. I'm so glad they chose the Sierra not the Porsche for this set. It really captures the look of British saloon car racing in the 80s. Ford had great success with the Sierra on the track.

I hope to find a MBX Ford Sierra/Merkur XR4Ti in my travels. My mother-in-law used to have the real thing! Heard some great stories about THAT car...

Pretty sure this set actually came out in 1987, though. It featured heavily in the 1987 catalogue and was unavailable in America. Always meant to order one for the van.

(I don't doubt the date on the box, just that the box wasn't updated from year to year.)
