I’ve had this car parked into a Tomica garage for at least 3 months and forgot about it. I live in the country and always find myself dusting. Gives this car a nice effect though. Much like a barn find. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hear! Hear! As for the dust...I suppose that is your choice. To me, it just looks like household dust (and out of scale), not something I would find on top of a long garaged car. But it's your call. |

...keep it dusty and chip it up a little. It will be appreciated more and be more appealing with "patina." I am being facetious of course. That "It's original only once" phrase doesn't sit well with me. I like things looking like new "original" with a bit of sparkle. Some peeps are into doom and gloom it seems. That is a fantastic model BTW. Thanks for the show! |

OK...as one who does appreciate "patina," I would only add that real vs. fake patina is an ongoing debate even among rodders. I don't see the suede look as fake patina, it is a legitimate look all its own, and frankly one I prefer. But dinging up intentionally or faking surface rust or paint loss is defeating the purpose, in my view...so in that I agree with Jack on this. But as for the primer suede look, that should be allowed to come right through...cleanly...in my humble opinion. The Road Rats series was all about the suede look, and that is why it is my favorite series by Jada...by a country mile. |

I agree with Wes about fake patina and I agree with Jack about patina period......LOL Wes is right about the suede or matt paint jobs on those cars. They are put in a different category and I too like that look. |

I don't like dust at all, since my whole house is full of it LOL. I will take my dusty cars and an old toothbrush and run them under the sink, then blow dry with an air compressor. Come out shiny and new! |

Nothing compared to my house. I never dust, and every now and then I see cobwebs growing all over my stuff. lol And if you're making a rat-rod, you can always tell when something is fake rust. Like purposely sanding all the paint off and letting it sit. Or taking brown spraypaint and spraying on fake rust. It takes someone that knows and lives with rusty junk to know how things rust. The #1 thing people always screw up is "rust bleed". That can never be faked, it only comes naturally.
