My mind is blacking out. Where these from a Superfast/Premiere release?

I got it from the Flea Market from Doug's Dougout. I shop there a lot and it came in a blister and was five dollars. I will look it up on ebay and find out. It drove out of the blister so fast I didn't get the name of it.

This casting was an issue in the Barrett Jackson premiere series and the new Superfast series. As I recall one of the "complaints" from collectors at the time was its smaller size.

Yes it is a little smaller but beautiful and that's where it't at for me.

Superb model to photograph, Daniel!

While the car itself is not necessarily my cup of tea, it is decked it in a very classy fashion. Sweet!

With Jazz and conversation from the foot of Mt. Belzoni.
IIRC the Barrett-Jackson model was actually the second version of this casting. It debuted in the Matchbox Collectibles Elvis series, which included classic cars in diorama scenes of a Drive-In Movie and Graceland.

Other cars that debuted in this series had similar scale issues, perhaps because they were designed to fit the diorama boxes and were not originally intended by Matchbox management at that time to make their way into anything other than a premium series.

The 1961 Dodge Dart Phoenix with similar scale issues also debuted here. This was the first we saw the 1957 Lincoln Premiere, 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special and 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz, if memory serves.

The 1960 MGA Convertible (not seen again until Lesney Edition Double Diecast debuted) and 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C were scaled quite a bit larger, as was the 1960 Jeep Surrey, which I believe was a new casting at the time.

I think the 1957 Ford Thunderbird was the only pre-existing model used in the series.

Here I am, two and a half weeks after the original pictures were posted, and somehow I missed seeing this thread until just now.

This is a beautiful car you've got Daniel, and the photos are awesome. Thank you for all of the great shots.

And thanks to others who offered more variations to ogle, and the history with the Elvis releases.
