Reminds me of the monster trucks in the 80's people would make look like cop cars. I think there was one called the "Enforcer" or something of that nature. Was a pickup truck with police lighs and siren, police decals, etc etc. |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

I love it! The only thing I dislike is the engine glued to the hood... just like JL did to their Dodge Monaco Zinger. |

I had a few of those Zingers as a kid. The jacked-up ones. The rear wheels and struts were just stuck in the holes in the chassis, no glue. It broke off about a week after I opened it, and I was always gentle. That's really what made me considered that Johnny Lightnings were a cheap/cheaply made brand. |

JLs were never really designed to be played with. The vast majority of them never leave the packaging, or if they do they go into Jammer cases or display cases. But they are of good quality. |

The Ford LTD police car monster, I'm very familiar with... have considered buying one to take the body & interior from and put on a balsawood base & make a custom LTD LX or Mercury Marquis from. Never seen this one and always remembered Zylmex's Plymouth Fury as a C-body. And yeah, JLs aren't really intended to be toys, aside from the Topper cars and to a lesser extent the early Topper repros, but they are well-made. Seber may have gotten a faulty one. I did play with JLs as a kid, but was gentle with all my diecasts ever since I lost a fleet of cars (I remember a few Morgans, so must have been Majorette, Zylmex, Tomica and maybe Corgi) to metal fatigue after a sandbox containing them below the surface of the sand flooded & froze over the winter when I was 4 or so, and especially after getting my first redlines & early regular-wheel Lesneys for Christmas when I was 8 or so. |
