One of my favorite Playart issues - the Yamada Super Discmatic Rotary Coupe. It took me a few years after I got this to realize it was a Mazda. :)

Nice. Mazda R100! (one of my favorite cars, seemingly renamed here either to avoid licensing or to make it more appealing on the US market, where Mazda was then maligned for unreliability and poor gas mileage when this was a new casting)

No one needed licensing back in the 70's & 80's.
It is possible this was named as such on a plastic model kit. A lot of diecast have been named as such.

Support your local demo derby.

Older gem models like this Playart is one of many reasons I love the diversity of models from everyone's collection. Thanks John for the pics.

I seem to recall reading some time ago that Playart had "copied" this from a Japanese model kit - the brand name was Yamada and Playart apparently thought that was the name of the car. :)

Nice. Will have to put this on my radar, especially since my wife works for Mazda - LOL.
