Odd diecast Volkswagen bug, rough copy of the old Zylmex D20 beetle with some style features also resembling Playart and Yat Ming, wheels are similar to those used by Welly in the 80s and 90s, no interior, terrible stance, axle fit and fit & finish, marked "Made In China" and "TC-8119" on base.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm guessing Rhino as far as manufacturer goes, but I really have no idea. Axle mounts are clip-style like Zylmex Dynawheels, Summer, Yat Ming 800-series and CF use, rivets are single at each end of the casting as is typical for 1/64 beetles. |

Hey Chris! I'm betting this is from your old buddies Tai Cheong with a casting number like TC-8119. Even the wheels are a dead ringer for the example in Dave and Kimmo's book. |

LOL.... didn't even think of it being from my most hated brand. I saw that it was a rough copy of a Zylmex and grabbed it. Then again one of my favorite plastic cars was made as a topping for a Wal-Mart birthday cake in the 90s and that's an even lower caste. |

When asking for ID on unusual diecast models , it is always good to include a shot of the baseplate. Each plate from different mfgrs can show different IDing characteristics that pertain to only that one producer. But, who am I to request pix when I never learned how to post them myself. It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks! |

I'll remember that for next time... right now I'm adding it to the mental list as a Tai Cheong. BTW off-topic, but does anyone know of free Mac OS X software that I can keep a database of my collection in and back it up to my MediaFire account or something, in case a fire, earthquake, bomb, meth lab explosion, tornado or robbery wipes out my collection? |

That's what memories are for. Hope that didn't sound curt, but I've had so much come and go in my life that these are only things, and things can be replaced...and you might even reach a time in your life when you realize they just aren't that important to invest all that extra effort into. If you want to catalog your collection, by all means do so. I just wouldn't do it thinking you will make the collection somehow immortal. |

I've found diecast software to be few and far between. MS Excel is what the general consensus is. |
