I, too, was a big fan of Adam-12 (Dragnet too). This was a nicely done model from Matchbox - one of the better ones in their TV/movie car series.

TV show was way ahead of my time but I none the less enjoy the model.

Definitely one of the better HOW cars from MB from that period. Wrong car for the series, but it at least looks seriously handled with no gaudy tampoes. I like the fact that they did any model sporting the Adam 12 insignia. But remain hopeful that one day we'll get a superior version using the correct car. Until then, this is it baby.

One could hope Greenlight might consider this one since they seem to be into the Hollywood models - and it is about time for a new AMC casting. :)

I've never seen an episode of the original, but I was a fan of "The New Adam-12" which originally aired in 1990 & 1991, featuring these guys, and this car:

The car in the early years of the show was an AMC Matador. Sadly, when Matchbox did their series they simply used the Plymouth Fury casting. JL did the Dragnet Ford Fairlane (unmarked) but no one else has done the Adam-12 car. Racing Champions did an LAPD car but it was not for Adam-12 and it too is a Plymouth.

I looked through their '74 Monaco, '90 LTD and '96 Vic castings and saw none of those were used. Don't recall JL having the license for this one.

The first JL HOW had both Bluesmobiles and the early 60s Ford from Andy Griffith.

Are ya thinking of one of those Gunn?

Yes, Johnny Lightning did do the Dragnet car. Part of their "Hollywood On Wheels" series. I had it as a kid, and I think and hope I still have it today. I haven't seen it since I re-started my diecast collection in september 2012.
