Well, while heading to Lowe's for some project material, I stopped next door to check out the diecast selection at the Thrift store I like. Boy, was that a good/bad idea! I had my arms FULL staggering up to the cash register, I actually bought a 60 cent tray to hold them while I took them out ( London Tube route on tray, neat, since my company President is British ). Anyway, I bought about 15 bags of cars and trucks, and got some good ones. Will post some specific close-up pictures in other posts. Also need ID on a VW bug, can't make out the maker. So, here they are. Line to the left are mostly the trader/non-savers, the big pile-up to the right are all the keepers. The most expensive bags were 3.90, down to 1.90. Most had at least 4 vehicles per bag. Pretty happy with THIS collection! Jerry Edited by 78Gremlin_GT, Jan 19 2014, 05:57 PM.

After seeing the base...I know. ![]() Those are some splendid grabs, but I'm surprised you are parting with the pink 34 Ford! |

Actually, that one I will probably keep, as I was just quickly sorting them into Keep and Discard piles. I will probably rethink a few of both piles most likely. Jerry |

That is an amazingly awesome score! I can't find nothing at my thrift stores. If it was me, I'd be keeping them all! LOL Love the Nintendo truck! PS: That yellow Matchbox Mercedes SUV with the "Beach Patrol" on it is a Light & Sound vehicle. Lights up and has a siren when pressed on. Edited by SeberHusky, Jan 20 2014, 01:06 AM.

I think the white van with "Yorktowne Cabinetry" on the side is a promotional model. I'm guessing ADventures as the imprinter as that company is in Winchester, and I think that there is a cabinet factory I saw somewhere in eastern Va. when I went to Williamsburg and Jamestown a few years ago.

Well, the supercars / foreign sports cars don't really do much for me, nor do the fantasy/sci-fi machines ( most of them, anyway ). But yeah, it was just so much fun going down the row, picking off bags of diecast ( Ooo! Oooo! Ooo! ) I got quite a few keepers. Some thrift stores have gone to this method ( mainly hispanic-run or frequented ), where they bag up items and put a generic price on the whole thing. This is one of the few stores that does it so far in quantity. I was shocked at how much I brought home that was vintage stuff. Still, there were probably 70+ rows of hanging hooks, 5 per row, so that's a LOT of diecast I DIDN'T bring home. Good thing, or my bank account would be dwindling faster than Obama's popularity ratings! PS. THanks for the heads-up on that Beach patrol, I will look at it today at work, as the majority of the cars are in back of my HHR right now. It can join my Ice Cream truck.

I was thinking that one was probably a promo issue too...and with a name like Yorktowne cabinetry I figured it might be from around that part of Virginia. |

Nice find Jerry! I think Cody is right about the Yorktowne van being a promo of some sort. I'm in the cabinet business and use to contract work from this company in the late 80's early 90s, back in those days I believe they were owned by a different parent company than they are now, and I believe their cabinet manufacturing plants were in Pennsylvania then, though I'm not sure the models age, but they had warehouses in other places like Tampa Florida where I worked out of at the time. I know it's a keeper for you now, but if you're ever thinking of parting with it someday, I might be interested....
