Hey all Recently I have been interested in collecting early models produced from Road Champs. The wheel type is the giveaway, they are similar to Hot Wheels Black Walls.I consider them chunky with nice detail and a diecast base with opening doors. Blister packs but I wanna touch the cars ... Oh no The Liberation Turtle is on the scene ... Just as I thought ... RIP! Plastic coffins no more ... Free at last! Good news I have 2 more different early casting Road Champs models on the way that are not yet listed in the data base here ... Yay! Enjoy! Eric |

I miss Road Champs. I used to collect their 1/43 scale models and their 1/80-ish scale trucks.

I never dreamed anyone would use the term 'Vintage' with regards to 1980s Road Champs but that day has arrived! Never seen the Mustang in person before. The Chrysler LeBaron seems to have taken on mini-legendary status for off brands. HWs did the wagon version of the Dodge Aries but I don't recall a convertible version of the K-Car from the Chrysler Corp in small scale. |

I didn't want to say "old." "Vintage" sounds so much better, especially when talking about nice old diecast that *was* still in the period correct packaging. If "vintage" can be used for HW and MBX and others from the same era, why not Road Champs too? |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

Road Champs was a great brand and they are missed. I believe the trademark is still owned by Jaxx though as far as I know they are not currently using it. |

I have the color changer version of the LeBaron. I always wondered why the ragtop was so loose, I thought it was shoddy build quality. Now I know why.

Yeah I know some folks cringe when they see cardboard getting shredded so I blame the Turtle for all of that lol. Now that you mention it Wes this era of Road Champs could be considered vintage right ... Ah yes the 80's I would also Love to see a pic of the 56 T-Bird Rag Tops ... I have not seen one nor is it listed in the data base! Will update this thread soon when the two data base castings entries arrive. Meanwhile here is my 83 T-Bird and Mercedes. Cheers Eric |

Great collection Eric....They also came in boxes back in the early 80's. Not that I was collecting back then to know for sure when they were available in stores, but I did find these at a local resale-hobby shop about 10 years ago.![]() ![]() ![]()

Wow great pics Dug-my-toys I always enjoy them Thanks! Im drooling over the Riviera yum yum.I see you have a red version too and that color variation is not yet listed in the data base. I also see the red 83 T-Bird without black rub strips on the doors ... Also unlisted in the data base although I have one on the way and will post it there unless you beat me to it ... Has anyone heard of a 57 Chevy Belair or a Buick Roadmaster ... Eric |

I have the silver T-bird in my salvage yard...it's missing the driver's door... I found it as part of a "lot" purchase at a local antique store a few years ago. I thought I had the Mercedes SEC coupe, but I don't. I have a Yatming and a no-name brand. The LeBaron was available in red and black, but I've never seen the color-changing version. The Mustang was available in red and yellow.

I'm late for the party as I snapped pics tonight. Oh well, I'll add 'em anyway. My copy came from a boxed 5 pack of 1950s cars sold by Road Champs. Also included was a 1st gen Vette hardtop, '57 Bel Air Convertible, this T-Bird, '59 Caddy and a 2nd Vette albeit in convertible form. ![]() ![]()
