Nice one Christophe This is Corgi's representation of the kind of home built oval-track stock cars that were popular in Britain in the 1960s and 70s. It's a great period item. Corgi did a small number of variations on 2 different castings. Mine are missing the racing number stickers that were originally attached to the roof sign boards.![]() Google image

I didn't know that. Very interesting, and I really like the purple one with the red roof. |

Interesting model of an interesting car. The theme of a big diecast manufacturer producing a car from a small-time level of racing seems to have been explored by Hot Wheels as well... ![]()

The hood on the Derek Fiske car lifts up to reveal a painted engine![]() Fiske and Todd Sweeney were actual drivers of the period, and the Corgi models are accurate to their real race cars. (The images below are all from Google) ![]() ![]() This great scan from a German magazine shows not only the Sweeney car (bottom right), but also the splendid Jaguar S-Type pace car that also made its way into the Corgi Rockets range ![]()

Wow! Once again new things learned about our little cars. I was not aware that these had been patterned after real race cars in the UK. |
