Would do no harm to ask Mr Alfa as he must be well up on that stuff or your best bet is Nicks Vintage Forum in the UK and of course the current Ambo Nigel.

Hope that helps.

I believe Bill is referring to 66alfa_gtv

He did show a very nice long thread of beautiful old regular wheel MBX here last week or so.

You can try using the member search feature to look up his profile and send him a personal message (PM). Unless he sees this thread, that will likely be your best bet to contact him with any questions.

Well, the harm is done already :D My wife wanted to offer me a gift. She said 300 Singapore dollars max (that's about 240 US $). How to refuse? I slightly exceeded the amount because of the shipping rates. Anyway, here is the pic:

Posted Image

These are early to mid-sixties models and it includes an old Matchbox case in good shape. It was sold for 200 US $. Below is what I could gather from the various pictures posted by the seller.

1E Mercedes Benz Lorry (no canopy)
3B Bedford Tipper
7C Ford Refuse Truck (X2)
8E Ford Mustang Fastback
12C Safari Land Rover (X2)
13D Dodge Wreck Truck
19D Lotus Racing Car
20C Chevrolet Impala Taxi Cab
21C Commer Milk Float
22C Pontiac Gran Prix Sports Coupe
25C Petrol Tanker
27D Mercedes 230SL
28C MK.10 Jaguar
29C Fire Pumper
31C Lincoln Continental
33B Ford Zephyr 6 MK III (X2)
36C Opel Diplomat
41C Ford GT
42B Studebaker Lark Wagonaire (X2)
44B Rolls Royce Phantom V (I think that's what it is, roof paint chipped)
45B Ford Corsair (X3, no boat)
49B Mercedes Unimog
52B BRM Racing Car (no pilot)
54B S and S Cadillac Ambulance (X2)
59C Ford Galaxie Fire Chief Car (poor condition)
56B Fiat 1500 (X3, no luggage)
57C Land Rover Fire Truck (no ladder)
63B Foamite Crash Tender (no ladder, no hose)
64B MG 1100 (X2)
65B Jaguar 3.4 Litre Saloon
73B Ferrari F1 Racing Car (no pilot)

I have no idea whether the price is too high. I know there are a few doubles, but for someone like me who has only a few old MBX, I thought that was a good start into that particular niche. Besides, it was a gift :)

Price is irrelevant if it's something you really love. :)

Although I have about 20 lbs of 1960's Matchbox cars, I'm no expert. But I will say that they look very clean, very well cared-for. The price works out to about $5.85 USD per car, and for mint cars, not bad at all.

PS: Look at the duplicates carefully, some Matchbox cars had different subtle and small variations to them, so they might not be 100% alike. There's guides on some websites somewhere.

Those do look to be in decent shape, although I do see a few *commonly* missing parts. Overall I'd say you got a decent deal for the money...you didn't steal them and the seller didn't get rich either, you paid about fair value I would say. Two that catch my eye...the white Mercedes Convertible usually is found with a broken windshield / windscreen. Even very nice looking examples can have broken windshields because they are quite fragile. It looks like yours still has it intact...ask the seller to pack that one especially carefully. The second that catches my eye is right next to it, the red Jaguar. I am not familiar with that one in that color. I don't know old MBX very well, but that one *might* be a repaint. Still, very nice lot for the money! Your wife chose a marvelous gift for you! Congratulations!

Thanks for the pic! Sweet Gift!

Thats a nice lot and seems like a fair price. Some of those models are also found with grey wheels instead of black which are more valueable.Im not seeing anything rare at first glance, wish the tow truck had a green cab and yellow box.

Looking forward to closeup pics upon receipt of the cars.

Enjoy
Eric

I've got the red Jaguar in my collection, although in far worse condition. Based on the condition of the others, I'd venture to say it is original.
