I found the Hot Wheels LaFerrari today so now it's time to do a comparison with the Kyosho version. It's a little like David and Goliath and not quite fair to compare a $1 Hot Wheels designed for kids with a $15 Kyosho designed for adults. The Kyosho is obviously much better in just about every way, the casting is much more accurate and the details are much better, but I have to say Hot Wheels did a fantastic job. It might not be quite as nice, but when you factor in price I think it's a dead even match and everyone will be quite happy with either. Unless they are sitting side by side, the Hot Wheels looks pretty darn accurate in hand, it's only when you really compare it that you notice some of the flaws and they are all relatively minor and par for Hot Wheels design direction.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Objectively, neither is perfect, but both are very close to some of the nicest examples of either brand. If they were the same price, the Kyosho would win hands down, but all in all I think its a pretty even match with that factored in. What does everyone else think? |

I saw this comment in a comparison between a C7 Corvette and 991 Porsche. To paraphrase, so long as the Corvette is "good for the price" and not simply "good", it's inferior and not actually good at all. I think the same applies here. Of course, if you consider the HW a toy and not a collector's item, as we probably should, then it certainly holds up well. At least the larger rear wheels, while greatly exaggerated, actually reflect the real car this time. |

The HWs looks a little long in the tooth but for a dollar toy it's a fair enough representation. |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

I think both are great models of the real car. While they're aimed at opposite ends of the market, but odds are good the Hot Wheels will get upgraded to a premium series at some point along the way, which means the casting has to be among their best (also, with their exclusive license with Ferrari they have to make great Ferrari castings or they could lose that exclusitivity). |

I have been extremely pleased with all of the HW Ferraris. some are better than others, but they have all been highlights of the HW range. |
