1961 or 1962 Corvette? 61 is printed in ink on base and the other is forged 62 in the base.

As Jack explains we had some serious Donkey Kart Wheels on this piece but I tried to use shadows to mask that deficiency and after all what a beautiful year for the Corvette.

Very Nice Corvette and I like those backgrounds. Corvettes went to 4 headlights in 58 and til 62 they looked the same so 61-62 same car. Then Came first Stingray 63-67.

I was fixin' to say, I don't think there are any significant differences in appearance between the '61 and '62. '62 was the last of the C1 Vettes, the C2 came out in '63.

Pretty sure that casting was from early in the PM era when they started getting into old muscle good, I think from the first series of Vettes. This was one of the better efforts from that series.

The '61-62 MYs are indeed essentially the same.

The primary difference between the two is that fender cove was no longer painted in a contrasting color in 1962. The reason behind this is that the bright work chrome was no longer present and the cove outline was now molded into the fiber glass instead.

Another change was the fender vent. The '62 went to the single opening style vs the 3 opening (spears) on the '58 to'61s.

Meaning the body work above is a 1962, but the paint application is from the 1961. I understand from other Corvette owners this was a common modification by new owners back then!

Thanks for bringing this thread back up. She is beautiful. I will always like the older Corvettes. Though the new ones are lookers there's just something about the Corvettes of yesterday.
