Hi Everyone, just thought I'd post this here to share with all the good Swifty's folks.

It's a Road Champs Truck Terminal playset that I won on ebay a number of years ago, never played with, it came in just a plain factory box, so I'd guess it could have been a mail order toy originally.

It came with some trucks, and a whole load of cars to play with.

:toy: Lots of play value with that set. I wonder if it was something that was offered in one of the Christmas wish books from Sears or JC Penny or Monkey Wards?

Could add the whole set to the database!

That is pure AWESOME! I am really surprised some kid didn't dive head first into that box way back when...

That was an exceptionally nice score! Thank you for showing it!

I know Road Champs marketed other company's castings at first, and the cars sure look like possibly Summer or some other lower range line...that orange wrecker truck looks *so* familiar...

Wow. This set was probably one of my most coveted toys from childhood.

Back story: Maybe some of you guys are familiar with Fingerhut catalogs. In their toy section in the early/mid '90s, they used to market this as the "28 pc. truck terminal set". I used to ask for it every year, but my mother never bought it. I can even remember when they changed around the cars in the set, around 1996. It was always something I wished to have, but the years rolled by without it.

Finally, one Christmas morning in 1998, I opened a box to find this truck terminal. It was my dream come true. I can't tell you how happy ten year old weatherman was. Let me tell you all, it may not have been cheap, but the value I got out of it is priceless. It's still at my mother's house, underneath my bed in a box.

Comparing the cars in that set to this one, there's a few differences - mostly colors, but the pink Prelude and the 300ZX weren't in mine, and in their place were a BMW-ish luxury sedan with the letters "VIP", and a Honda Civic four-door.

Those Caravans are sweet! I found them several years ago at a local antique store. I kept one and the other went to a fellow collector to fill a need in his collection.

Thanks everyone, it is a cool set, I remember how surprised I was when I opened up the box, I believe the seller only pictured the top contents of the box when you open it, I believe you could see the three trucks, or maybe he mentioned those in his description, but no idea it came with the cars....he had it listed cheap, for $9.99 if I remember right, and no one else bid, so he probably just wanted to get rid of it, and didn't get carried away with describing the contents, if he even knew.

Wes, you're probably right about the cars not being Road Champs, unfortunately I'm not sure where the box is at the moment so can't do closer pics of the cars, pretty sure the trucks are Road Champs though.

Weatherman, congrats on finally getting your childhood wish, must'a been super fun to play with as a kid, thanks for that great info too about where it came from, I do remember Fingerhut, it seems this set might not have been that old when I got it, early 2000's I think.

The cars are all genuine Road Champs. The Nissan 300ZX, Honda Prelude, Dodge Caravans, & Datsun Pickup / tow truck are older, nicer castings. The others (Mazda Miata, BMW 850i, BMW 535i, Lexus LS400, Lamborghini Diablo, Ford Thunderbird) are newer than the others, and from a time in Road Champs history when production quality wasn't as important as quantity.

I do not immediately recognize two of the cars: yellow hatchback? with black and blue jagged stripes, & bright blue sedan with black and white tampos on the hood and roof (next to the red Caravan). If you could get pictures of those two for me, I am quite interested in seeing them.

Hi Dean, I found the set this week so I snapped a couple pics, although I didn't remember exactly which ones from your post you mentioned when I took the photo, so there is an extra model in there.... I can't identify car marques so well so I'll leave those who can.

I didn't get a good profile of the light blue one, I can take another if it'll help.

Thanks for the extra pictures. I'm still struggling to identify the two cars.
The yellow looks French...possibly Citroen? The front of the blue one looks a little like the Volvo 850, but the rest isn't much of a match. Hmmmm.

Rover 800. The taillights look a bit off but the grille is a dead-on match.

The yellow one definitely looks like a series one Citroen Xantia. The back of the blue one looks like a BMW 5 or 7 series to me.

The front fascia on the light blue looks a lot like late 90s FoMoCo to me, particularly full size Mercury. Body lines are pretty close too.

Yellow car is definitely a Xantia, 99% sure the blue one is a Rover 800...and the other blue one should be a Lexus LS.

I read of the difficulty identifying them earlier today, so I snapped a few more pics this afternoon, but it sounds like speedyexpress is pretty sure now anyway, but here they are...

On a side note, I was first thinking they were Fords as well, but I didn't really know.
