Sean is the only person i know of who has a mud pit blazer in c9+ condition. so Sean i need you compare the pictures below and let me know which one is the same as yours. i picked these up lately... notice that the glass is different colors.yes, one does look sun faded, but the glass would not have faded all around.also the glass under the roof is the same dark yellow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() hood tampo color vari. ![]() also it is hard to detect in pics but there is a paint color vari. i believe there was two issues for the mud pit sets.i base this on the fact that they used two bases.i dont think both base would have been in the same run.. ![]() ![]() |

It looks heavily faded to me. When cars get exposed to too much sunlight (like a collection near the window), windows get that yellowed and brittle and start cracking. You can see the splotches of the original dark yellow in various places on the stegosaurus. The car also got stepped-on, which pushed the window down farther, so that also had an effect on the light exposure. This kind of fading and discoloration usually happens more on cars with blue-tinted windows. They always tint when faded to a "pee yellow" color though, no matter what the original window color was. Something to do with the chemicals in the plastic. Here's a couple of my Z-Whizzes as a comparison:

The bases are intriguing. I'd have dismissed this as aging from the elements, including faded tampo, but with the different bases, it opens the feasibility to legitimate variations in window, tampo, and paint hue. Swifty ran my copy of this Blazer for Car Of The Day a while back. Mine has the "Blazer 4x4" on the base, and has the lighter windows, and darker yellow hood tampo. COTD - S-10 Blazer |

I'm pretty sure the excess stock from the recalled playset were released in baggies through the Mattel Toystore. It is *possible* that another batch was made specifically for that purpose (Toystore), never meant to be in the playset. I do think the one was exposed to sunlight, but the base variation does raise questions. |
