I love the CLK GTR (despite it's propensity for becoming airborn) and realized I had four different models of it so I thought it was time for another comparison. Before going any further, I should point out that the Hot Wheels is actually a CLK LM, which was a slightly later version of the CLK GTR so the bodywork, particularly in the front is different with it's lower hood, wider fenders and fender vents. It's close enough though for these purposes but keep that in mind. With that being said, the Hot Wheels is my least favorite of the group. A large part of that is due to being the CLK LM with the lower hood that looks more akward, but mainly because it just seems to need something else, be it headlight or grill details or sponsor decals, but it just seems to be missing something. Maybe it's also because it reminds me of the fact that Hot Wheels actually went to the trouble to make multiple LeMans cars and now the popularity has waned. Nevertheless, I'm glad to have it and I wish Mattel could get their license with Mercedes straightened out to see more from the brand. Coming in at number three is the blue Majorette. I love the racing decals and it is overall pretty decent, but the B pillar is molded with the body as opposed to with the glass like the others. On the real car there is a large vent here so that doesn't translate as well. It does have a nice interior and engine though. At number two is the biggest surprise of the group. The Maisto punches well above it's price point and is far more accurate than either the Hot Wheels or Majorette. All of the molded detail work and body lines are nice and crisp and even the wheels look pretty decent for Maisto. And coming in at number one, is the exceptional Kyosho. The model itself is of course very well done. At the Kyosho price point though, that is to be expected, so any flaws will become a bigger disappointment than on the dollar cars. Thankfully, with the casting itself I can't find any fault. I can find fault with my specific example though, as it arrived damaged and is missing the side window on the driver's side, but I won't hold that against it for comparison purposes. Another reason the Kyosho wins in my book is because this is the livery that I like best on this car, even better than the road going versions. Maybe it's because I'm a big fan of Warsteiner Dunkel beer, maybe it's because 10 is my lucky number, but I think it looks great. As an added bonus, but not ranked since it's too different, is the Kyosho CLK GTR Roadster. I prefer the hardtop, but the roadster is still pretty darn cool. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by 250 TR, May 13 2014, 10:55 PM.

The Maisto version of this car is one of my absolute favorites from the brand and I don't believe there are many castings in their history that are better. There's even a wheel variation with almost-correct wheels that I'm fortunate enough to have (not my picture):
