Today's car of the day comes from 250 TR's collection, and is Kyosho's 2008 Aston Martin DBR9.

Wikipedia

The Aston Martin DBR9 is a racing car built by Aston Martin Racing, debuting in 2005 and racing actively in international sports car racing until the end of GT1 category in 2011. The name DBR9 is derived from the original 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning DBR1 car, named for then-owner David Brown, which not only won the 24 Hour race in 1959 but also the World Sportscar title. The car is most famous for taking two LMGT1 class wins at Le Mans 24 Hours (2007 and 2008) by the Aston Martin Racing factory team.

This is one of my favorite models in my collection. The Aston Martin DB9 is a beautiful car and the racing version takes the classic looks and injects a nice amount of muscle. The details and tampos are fantastic and in my opinion one of the best models that Kyosho has made, however it one of the most difficult cars I have photographed. Between the pale blue paint which is beautiful in person and the dark black rims, getting the details to show up right washed out the pictures.

Wikipedia

Based on the Aston Martin DB9 road car, the DBR9 retains the chassis, engine block, and cylinder heads of the road car's V12 engine. The rest of the car is re-engineered for high performance competition use. The DBR9's bodywork is a blend of optimum aerodynamic performance and the styling of the DB9 road car. All the body panels are constructed from carbon fiber composite (except the roof) to minimize the weight of the car. To complete the aerodynamic body, the bottom of the car is flat all the way from the front to the rear diffuser. To optimize rear downforce a carbon fiber wing has been added. The car goes from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds. For the 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans, Prodrive made modifications to the DBR9 design to not only improve performance, but also to increase driver comfort in the cockpit. Due to new regulations put into place by Le Mans organizers, the DBR9 required the installation of an air conditioning unit, to prevent overstressing drivers. Prodrive went further by putting a heat-resistant white roof on all new cars to assist in keeping cockpit temperatures down. Performance modifications included the removal of two, now immaterial, cooling vents from the bonnet of the car.

For those that like the DBR9, Kyosho also did it in green, the #009 car with yellow accents and the #007 car with orange accents (which I don't have yet). Norev also did the DBR9 in several liveries, although it is slightly larger than 1:64 and Scalextric made a slot car version in close to 1:64, I think it was called Micro Scalextric. Kyosho has made several other cars in Gulf livery, including the Aston Martin LMP1, Ford GT40 and both a short tail and long tail McLaren F1 GTR.

Don't worry John they have one with that number. What self respecting British car maker wouldn't have that number on side of their race car.....LOL

So I just realized after having had this model in my collection for some time that it is either an error or a variation. I had a hard time taking these pictures because of the black wheels, turns out they should be silver/ grey, and in my opinion look much better in the color they should be. Looking through pictures on Google, I found this picture from 69Stang:

Well, if you get the one wanted and have no need of the "error" let me know. I would be happy to take it off your hands.... :)

Both wheels are correct as far as the race cars went, they ran both at different times. Man, do I dig this car, I just find A/M's so sexy in race trim, great COTD selection!
