Hot Wheels 100% 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible from Firehawk's collection is today's car.

Wikipedia.com

The Eldorado is a two-door personal luxury car manufactured and marketed by the Cadillac Division of General Motors from 1953 to 2002. Competitors included the Lincoln Mark series and the lower-priced Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado.

The Eldorado was at or near the top of the Cadillac line during early model years. The original 1953 Eldorado convertible and the Eldorado Brougham models of 1957–1960 were the most expensive models that Cadillac offered those years, and the Eldorado was never less than second in price after the Cadillac Series 75 until 1966.

1957 saw the Eldorado (in both Biarritz convertible and Seville hardtop bodystyles) with a revised rear-end design featuring a low, downswept fenderline capped by a pointed, in-board fin. The rear fenders were commonly referred to as "chipmunk cheeks". This concept was used for two years, but did not spawn any imitators. Series 62 Eldorados (as distinct from the Series 70 Eldorado Brougham) were further distinguished by the model name above a V-shaped rear deck ornament and on the front fenders. The rear fender and deck contour was trimmed with broad, sculptured stainless steel beauty panels. Also seen were "shark" style fins pointing towards the back of the cars. A three section built in front bumper was another exclusive trait of the Series 62 Eldorados, which came with a long list of standard features. A new bodystyle was added to the subseries, a 4-door Eldorado Sedan Seville, but only four were actually sold, and it was cancelled the following year.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
Hmm. this looks more like a Jada style issue than a HW, especially the stance and front view.

I can admit it looks a bit low, but that it a styling trend. Not sure I could equate with Jada though. Better Jada perhaps, but run of the mill out proportioned Jada...no. These Caddys were simply huge monsters, and those body lines are tolerably accurate. Something I've noted in the past to myself is how Caddy styling seemed to precede the rest of GM by about a year. This is a 57, but a lot of the design cues were copied by Buick and Oldsmobile (and a lesser extent Pontiac and Chevy) starting in 58.

I'm not much on American cars of the 50's. As a child of the 80's, these were the cars that my parent's generation lusted after so that made them less cool to me. I've since come to respect and like a great many of them, but gravitate toward the more luxurious cars like Cadillac and Lincoln or the more obscure, like Studebaker. No offense to the many that like them, but cars like 57 Chevy's don't do much for me as it seems every kid I knew had a parent, grandparent, uncle or neighbor with one. This on the other hand, even as a kid would have turned my head. As an adult, I'd take one of these in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.

Wow! As the former owner of a '57 Coupe de Ville, I'd love to have a few of these.
