Chevrolet's 1979 Van is the car for today from Matchbox.

The Chevrolet Van was one of several vans made by General Motors for North America. Its strongest competition was the Ford Econoline van and the Dodge Ram Van.

The term "Chevrolet van" also refers to the entire series of vans sold by Chevrolet. The first Chevrolet van was released in 1961 on the Corvair platform, and the latest Chevrolet van in production is the Chevrolet Express.

The front sheetmetal was updated. Changes include: a new, built-out plastic grilles with integrated blinkers, different fenders, round headlamps on lower-end models and square headlamps on higher-end models, new steering wheel similar to the 1973-87 pickups, and new dash. Front and rear bumpers were enlarged.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I like the colors, but this casting looks like a wannabe terrorist military transport. You know, a notch above the usual Tacoma missile launcher and troops hanging over the sides...shooting rifles into the air...idiots.

At the risk of stoking the fire...this is a Chevy Van, clearly and obviously. Whereas the HW Super Van doesn't share the same lines in my opinion. Even allowing that the MBX is a stretch and the Super Van is a shorty, I just don't see Chevy lines. That's the main reason I've always held the Super Van to be a Dodge.

BTW, this is an interesting vari I haven't seen before. Nice!

They've been around awhile. I think they go back to late in the Lesney era, but they were a mainstay in the line well into the TYCO era. Kinda surprised to hear it was released again as a premium issue in the Matty era, but there are quite a few variations and paints available out there.
