Bulgarian biplane One of the things I enjoy collecting are the odd-ball variations of Matchbox vehicles that made their way out of Bulgaria. Models like the Carmichael Commando and the Mercedes sedan were released in an abundance of varieties. Here's one model though I have not been able to find a bunch of variations of - the MB Bi-plane ![]() ![]() ![]() I recently picked up a medical version of this casting. I'll try and get some pics taken before the sun goes down. Any other variations of this thing flying around out there? |

Looks like a lot of those Bulgarian Matchbox emergency vehicles use "160" for the "unit number". Any idea why? |

Nice looking biplane. Didn't know any Skybusters made it to Bulgaria. Does the medical version have the same slanted "AMBULANCE" tampo as the other Bulgarian issues? For a lot of castings, like the Carmichael Commando, for example, most of the issues were Bulgarian. I have found a few from US sellers (mostly US promos, oddly), but the most are from Bulgaria. I think I'll avoid getting anything from that part of Europe until the mess in Ukraine is over, though. |

I'm gonna take a shot (sort of off-topic, but based on a question I posed directly to the original post) at the number "160" on so many Bulgarian Matchbox emergency vehicles....I think maybe "160" is the Bulgarian "911" or "112" of Germany. Anybody know if that's correct? |

According to the I internet... The European emergency number 112 is not the only emergency number in Bulgaria. Alongside 112, the following emergency numbers are available: 150 – ambulance, 166 - police, 160 – fire brigade, |
