As a collector of emergency vehicles, I have often wondered, what was the first toy to bear the Star of Life emblem?

Well, a little research made clear it couldn't have been on any toy prior to 1977, when the Star was adopted officially as the symbol for EMS (though it was proposed, and perhaps unofficially used, about 10 years prior to that....)

The first one i can recall was the matchbox box ambulance from the late 70's early 80's ? I have one in somewhere around my house . I'll see if i can dig it up and get a picture of it .

I recall the above two MBX models, also as a child around the same time as having those I recall having a large plastic type II ambulance with a SOL on the sides.

I Nylint also released their press steel Chevy Type I in orange and white with the SOL on the side, but not sure the year. I had a red version of it but recall a cousin having it in orange and white.

Not sure of the year either Brian, but here's the version you're thinking of minus 2 roof lights - photo coutesy of OFAS
