When I started collecting and first came across this model my first impression of it was that the dome was too big, and unattractive on the model, but I really enjoyed the play value with the Rola-Matics action it had, and then there is the fact that the model is of an old style Range Rover, which I also liked, but maybe another of my enjoyments is that there are so many variations to collect, depending on how far one wants to take it, the #20 Police Patrol is a fun one to collect.

Here's what I got so far, no close ups on hand, but feel free to add yours.

Your Police Patrol collection is pretty extensive. You even have two carded of the Dakar issue, when I'm nearly certain most of us don't even have one loose.

I've never seen the Japanese or Site Engineer, or the orange versions versions before.

Thanks everyone, glad you enjoyed my collection, there are still a couple other major variations, maybe more, I'd like to get someday. I'd seen a pic of the military olive color with the long orange police stripe, like on the more common white variation, then there is a blue Dakar issue, which I believe was only available in the French market... and too expensive. :D

It's really too bad they never did a red fire brigade or chief version.

W Gee, The colored plastic piece, kind of half domed in shape, inside the clear dome spins when you roll it. There is a little tab on the inside of a wheel which hits a notch in a gear, where each rotation turns the gear some more, and I believe this gear connects to another gear inside which turns the dome piece. They were pretty clever ideas for a small toy at the time.

Harry, the Monaco is one of my favorite current issues by Mbx, great pics on your website!

Cody, those two Dakar models have different paint, one is metallic and one is a regular enamel finish, back when I got them they weren't in high demand, not common, but I'd seen others around, I believe I found them both at toy shows, and didn't have to spend much then.

By far the most expensive one I got was the white site engineer, which was $20 back when I got it, The Japan issue came from a great diecast shop in PA while passing through years ago, it's kind of cool because it has a red interior/spinner, which I don't believe they used in any other version, most of the others were ebay purchases I got lucky with, spotting a good one for cheap and no-one else bid.

Thanks again,
sorry to go on so long here.

Thanks for the pics Jeff, my collection of these has been packed away so long I didn't remember the Dakar's had a red dome as well.
