Most likely many of us tried this, took the gamble on this eBay lot of 8 cars,it only had one small picture. One bid and all total 10.50 shipped sounds like a good deal to me! They are all complete and in nice condition.

Very nice additions! I've seen the Nova sell for 50+ in beat up condition. I bet you had a smile on your face when you opened that package!!!

Condition, condition, condition! You got an excellent lot and a very nice price...mainly because of condition! Apart from the Buby (a lottery win!), the rest are cool but if they were so-so condition you would have been about right on price I think. So in my humble opinion your score is the condition these are all in!

(And if the Corgis need a new home, think of me.... :) )

Unbelievable stroke of luck right there. Color me insanely jealous! In the 15 or so years I've known about the Buby Nova, I've never found one I could afford. I'd have dang near passed out if I had opened a box with a "guestimate" content, and found not only the Nova, but the Interceptor, Eldorado and the green Yat Ming wagon. This is a mind-blowing score, buddy.

That's a great deal.

There are some in there that retail for about triple what you paid for all of them.

I'm pretty sure if I had found the lot, I would have bought it.

A gamble that turned out to be a great win. Sometimes those poor or limited pictures are worth a closer look and further evaluation, like you did here. Exciting scores Eric, Congrats!

Fantastic score! Do you have the one ebay image from the auction you gambled on?
Can you give us a scale comparison photo with the Nova?

Thanks gang! Yeah Im stoked for this purchase!

It takes a lot of time searching and patience to find deals like this. And yes I have taken the gamble before and lost. The seller also had many train layouts so I was banking on the condition of these cars to be good.In case anyone is interested ...

Auction Linky Click

Its not my ID in the bid history. The seller only accepted PayPal,so a good friend here bid for me.Good thing I trusted him or he could have grabbed the deal for himself lol.

Cheers

Unless you know your diecast, that's really not a great photo. Plus a definite gamble on condition. Glad it paid off for you so well.

YES, they cleaned up very well. I would not have been able to spot the Buby. Probably would have guessed Majorette or Yatming. Congrats!

Yeah train stuff you might take a big chance on with an auction pic like that, sometimes those train guys add paint details to the model, or glue the wheels down to their layouts....I have often noticed this when checking out models at local train shows.

They would be essentially identical. I believe the Husky brand was originally just for the Woolworth department stores and Corgi's first foray into 1:64(ish) cars – to compete with Matchbox. Then they started putting little Corgi Juniors stickers on the bottom of the Husky castings. Then came the Corgi Juniors Whizzwheels versions to keep up with the Hot Wheels invasion.

Is that technically a "Mini-Buby"? Looking at other auctions, I see both.

My gamble back in June got me a TurboTrax Porsche amidst the 200 cars, so I know what you mean :P

The tow truck was originally a Husky Models. As mentioned Corgi Juniors took over and simply blanked out that text on the base with this particular model and added a CJ sticker in its place, which happens to be missing from this example. With certain models they just added a sticker over top of the Husky base text with an added sticker.

Very interesting about the train guys, that didnt even cross my mind.Guess I got lucky!

:toy: It is a crossover from when they switched to the Corgi Jr. name on the Husky models. You can see the same on the Studebaker ambulance.
