On February 4, 2004 at the Chicago Auto Show, Toyota unveiled a bigger and more powerful Tacoma. This new Tacoma was available in eighteen different configurations, that included three cab configurations, four transmissions, two engines, and two bed lengths. The three cab configurations consist of regular cab, access cab, and double cab. The transmissions come in 4-speed automatic, 5-speed automatic, 5-speed manual, and 6-speed manual. Beds are: 6 ft (1.8 m) long bed, and 5 ft (1.5 m) short bed. The Tacoma's 4.0-liter 1GR-FE V6 took the place of the original 3.4-liter 5VZ-FE V6. The new V6 had many enhancements, such as a tow rating of 6,500 lb (2,948 kg), and a payload capacity of 1,650 lb (748 kg). It produces 236 horsepower (176 kW) and 266 lb·ft (361 N·m) of torque. The smaller, but all-new 2.7-liter 2TR-FE 4-cylinder alternative in less expensive models is rated at 159 hp (119 kW) and 180 lb·ft (244 N·m). of torque.

MB issued this in 2014 and comes in beach patrol disguise complete with surfboards and stock ride height. No interior is present.

The 2012 model year refresh featured a restyled front bumper, headlights, grille, hood, new interior and a shark fin antenna for the SiriusXM satellite radio. The 2013 model year comes with touch screen audio system and removes the shark fin antenna and SiriusXM radio capability unless the optional Entune package is installed.

I really like this model, and I was pretty happy when it was announced.

Do I wish it was stock, like the MotorMax one? Yes. But I'm still pretty happy with this lifeguard version. It is realistic, and it expands into the lifeguard genre, which is usually overlooked.

A little detail goes a long way into improving this model, and as soon as I purchased mine, out came the paint.

There's a lot of low-budgetness to this model. A lot.
But it still gets the job done as a cheap toy that resembles what it is supposed to resemble. When I find one, it'll get headlights ASAP.

I haven't found it, the Mack, the F-550, or most other Matchbox 2014 emergency vehicles.

It does look great. The only other lifeguard truck in my collection is the Hot Wheels one, and even that one is twenty something years old.

Normally, I would agree, and be excited to see people's customs, but the lack of the rear window area (cab wall and rear chunk of the roof) hampers the customization possibilities.

Maybe paint it white and modify the surf rack to a ladder rack for a handyman truck.

It does offer basic play value with the life guard attachments - but it also limits future changes to mostly color and tampo design since I can't picture Matchbox making the effort to alter the rear.

I see what you guys are saying about the rear of the cab----too bad they had to make that part of the roof rack. Oh, well, as Ward Burton would say... Even so, I'll buy one to have as-is, and a 2nd one to take apart. You know I HAVE to do that. :)

Can someone else please share the same opinion with me that the front fascia is pretty far off? The headlights are far too small and misshaped, not to mention the pretty sizable gaps between the body and bumper that are unacceptable for a new casting.

Not impressed with this one at all, although I want to be.

I hate to say it, but I think that's been the general consensus for quite some time across the board. I'm come to accept that it is what it is and take it as it is for what it is. Pretending or hoping for these new issues to be something they are not and never will be is an exercise in futility.

I actually just picked up this lifeguard truck a few days ago, because the surfing theme caught my eye. I had no expectations (none, zero) of scale accuracy, and never even bothered to check.

My two cents...
