Hey Guys,

I found this Jag at this year 2014 Gathering of Friends in NM this past July. The guy who sold it to me said it was real.

I have my doubts. looked in the archives and didn't see this model.

the axles seem to be extra long and really stick out, and the hubcaps look like play art to me, but it is still riveted properly

I don't think it came that way. the number looks taped on the stars look drawn on the way a person learns to draw stars point by point
and then taped on

that is what I am thinking too , now that I have seen my own pics, . the more you look, the more I can tell now.

the camera really brings out the detail on this one

thanks for your opinion.

I too agree with Snowowl. The #7 on the hood covers up part of the casting detailed vents over the engine. Definitely an amateur modification.

It's just a "kid-custom". Those are early Playart wheels, and stickers from a sticker book.

how about a pic of the base.
I'll have to get it back , as I got it for a friend of mine.

it is one of his trio of top collection categories

his biggest three are '41 Willys , jag XKE , and garbage trucks , go figure

This is a Zylmex/Zee, right? Had one before and it had the same wide wheels. Decoration looks custom.

Support your local demo derby.

I'd agree with Mr. Futura that this is a Zylmex/Zee.

For comparison sake here's Yatming '61 E-Type courtesy of Swifty.

Early Zees had hubcaps too, so that part is correct. The "7" and stars look added by a kid, I don't think those are factory.

Just as an update to clarify, this was formerly in the YatMing section of the site, so that's why I said what I said earlier about it having PlayArt wheels.

I moved this from the Yatming section after it was determine to be a Zee.

Interesting. I didn't think "sticker book" until Seber mentioned it. Looks like it was done a while ago by the wear of the stickers. Little kid or big kid custom? That's the question for me because there's an odd sense of design and uniformity in the placement of the stickers that might not come from too young a kid. Teen to adult, I would say. Or at least had some older supervision. Probably done by the guy who sold it to you. Or an assisted project for one of his kids who outgrew it. He is somewhat of a creative guy--after all, he told you that story about it being original. Hope you didn't pay too much of an "original" price.

Zyimex kiddie-car custom. Some Zylmexes had no name or logo on the base, no idea about metal base 70s issues, but all Dynawheels after 1985 or so were only marked with a D--- number.

Those brittle bumpers never had much of a chance.
