VW Beetle 1302

Recently i have ran across an interesting example of a Majorette no. 202 VW 1302, which made me curious about its year of production. The interesting thing is, that red model features rather vintage, 5-spoke wheels while it has a cast shut trunk, which would be typical for later releases of this model. Usually most of the red beetles i have seen feature 3-spoke wheels.
Meanwhile i have gone through all my loose Majorettes as a part of a major sorting through my collection after the move to another home and i with the help of fellow collectors i learned there were 5 casting variations of this model, not to speak about colors and wheel varis. Made in France castings had the number 202, while Thailand ones were No. 203.
I found 6 models so far, actually 7 but the Kermit green No. 203 beetle has since been traded. Here go the pics:

One little note, the conditions vary from one mode to another, due to the fact that all of them except the purple beetle have been found on flea markets and swapmeets.

No. 202 gold with one piece wheels

No. 202 green with one piece wheels

This is the model that intrigued me and motivated me to get myself informed:
No. 202, red with closed trunk

No. 203, green beetle w/ ants. ^_^

No. 203, Purple (bought new somewhere in 2001)

I would welcome pics of all the other Majorette No. 202 and No. 203 VW Beetles.

Hi Sini, the five spoke button wheel is, for some reason, rarest than others button wheels, But all button wheels were all fitted on Majorette cars in the same time around 1975 I think.

Congratulations to your still welldone website.

I like these. And it doesn't get more original than green with ants...LOL! Has this color scheme ever been duplicated by a rival company?

Those are some great collections!

Never did run across one of those #202 with opening trunks, I enjoy the play/operating features on toy cars I collect.

Very nice Bugs! I do not have any of these in my Beetle collection, thanks for the pics, they will help find them at the Toy Shows.

Amazed at the variety, especially in a car I do not see much and don't have in my collection at all!

I will have to be on the look out, but it will have to be online since the odds of finding any of these floating
around shops and yard sales are remote in the US.
