Nothing new, but still a simple and nice pair, the Maisto Chevy Caprice in NYPD and Taxi liveries.
There is one more Police version i have, white with a red stripe on sides.

Does anybody know if Maisto issued a stock version of this casting?

I have always enjoyed this casting. I've collected 17 different variations over the years, but all of them have a light bar or taxi sign. There were no civilian versions by Maisto (although civilian versions exist from Racing Champions, Realtoy and 2 different castings from Welly).

I had no idea there were 17 versions of this model... WOW!

I am aware of the civilian/non light bar versions of Caprice by other manufacturers though, therefore i would welcome a civilian Maisto version to add to that group.

Was there a Racing Champions Taxi version?

I am aware of this as well apart from it, Yatming in its 800 series also has one as does Hongwell in 1/72, but i think those are later body styles with larger rear wheel openings

Support your local demo derby.

Dean has an article in the Collectors Corner called The Upside-Down Bathtub that lists/shows many of the '91-'96 Caprice/Impalas that exist in small scale.

No - as far as I know Racing Champions never made a taxi version of the Caprice.

No dice on Maisto (although breaking off the lightbar and doing a custom can get you a Caprice).

YatMing had a rather cheapish one too:
